Content pirating in Garry's Mod

In Garry’s Mod Toybox there are some weapons and models from BMS. I think mod developers should alert Garry ( https://www.facepunch.com/forums/370-ToyBox ).

Where? Please provide accurate link.

It’s not illegal, as BMS is not commercial. MOve along…

Silly thread is silly.

booooooo hooooooooo

Most of the “Black Mesa” stuff is just weapon v_models from the leaked alpha/shitty citizen-to-kleiner headhacks by Half-Dead.

fail thread is fail

Just because something isn’t being sold for money, does not mean that redistribution is legal. Case in point: Anything under the GPL. If you ever redistribute a GPL program, and happen not to include the standard license document, you have very much broken the law.

Doesn’t matter, you can’t do much about it once it’s been made and distributed.

Uhh actually, those models would be the intellectual property of the creators. Using them in any way without permission is a breach of copyright law. :expressionless:

VALVe could step in, but the devs doing anything about it? Bleh. Good luck.

Wait… a virtual representation of the Glock 17 ™, manufactured by Glock Ges.m.b.H., is the IP of… the BM team?

Our content’s gonna get pirated every which direction when the mod comes out, and we really have no way of stopping it B)

lol @ the bottom of the pic

Do you think Bethesda Software, Activision, Id, Valve, Infinity ward, or the other twenty-or-so Companies get butthurt when their shit gets ported to gmod? I don’t think so. Hell, the BM content on garry’s mod is alpha crap that’s outdated and, in the case of one map, broken. Its nothing to worry about. Its just trash content.

The uploader of those files is porter, and some of his files are illegal.

Oh wow, one weapon that was scrapped completely and another that was probably redone like a thousand times since the leak.

Not relevant.

People who complain about stuff like this should be banned from the internet and politics.

Live and let live, who’s it gonna hurt as long as credit is given?

It’s still not news!

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
