Yes! Can’t wait to play!
I don’t even need to take a day off at work because apparently it’ll release friday the 14th at around 5 pm here! Awesome
Hey it’s that Orcone guy, I remember talking to you at that Atomic Unlocked event a couple of years ago.
mighty news sadly Im at a boarding school so I probably won’t get to play until the weekend after- Bollocks. but seeing as Xen won’t be in I guess I can pretend I’m not missing out until the full thing is released.
couple of questions though- I remeber raminator talking about Xen being like a whole new game in and of itself, what does this mean? will it be added to black mesa itself as a set of chapters or will it be a whole new piece of software?? also how much longer will it be exactly??
What makes more sense: compiling a completely separate set of binaries, materials, sounds, effects and maps, or just adding them to the existing data everybody already has? They’re not going to duplicate all the content and make it a separate mod just because they say it’s going to be an entirely new game.
Raminator answered that question here:

You haven’t changed one bit hey Orcone
Hi there,
First of all, this is great news, i’d nearly forgotten this mod.
i have a question about the remake that may have been asked before. Back in May '10, Steam was updated for OSX and with that, Valve updated their games to be compatible with Mac and also added new textures and effects like HDR and dynamic lighting. i don’t know in detail but HL2 was as good as Ep2 according to image quality, getting to a point near Cinamatic mod. Before the update it was a Dx7 game. So what about the gfx in this game? is it like HL2 after OSX update? Trailers reveal that it has HDR effects.
Is it wrong that I’ve been on the verge of crying since this was announced.
AFAIK it was always DX9 with compatibility for old DirectX libraries. Black Mesa is said to be pushing the Source engine to its limits, the Dev team having to “bolt down” (make them unaffected by the physics engine) certain elements in the environment to keep it from crashing. Since Cinematic Mod has never crashed for me, it sounds like they’ve got quite an impressive show in store for us. If you were just wondering whether it had HDR, don’t worry it uses the Orange box engine/Source 2007. Maybe you should check out some of the recent screenshots or a 1080p version of the leak to get a feel for the graphics.
so beautiful… :’(
I’ve got wrinkles now. That’s about it, Mr Headdon.
