^ And… unforeseen consequences.

Just like to say, I love what you have done to Halflife Good job, and as you said Zen was a pain. hope you can make it better. Once again Thanks for all your hard work and persistence in making this game shine once more on my PC.

Any kind of time-frame for when xen will be available?

When it’s done!

I have feeling I’ve heard that one before… OH WAIT!

It was a beautiful game. Eagerly awaiting the Xen update.

I wonder what special surprise are they putting in Xen when it takes them so long to make it?
I wonder.
But then again it’s not just Xen that they have to prepare.
It’s putting the game on Steam,Death match and Xen of course.

A completely redone and expanded remake of Xen is what’s taking so long!

Are they working on mp too, or has this idea been scrapped?

They’re working on Deathmatch but stopped on Co-op.

I didn’t even know there was a co-op mode being worked at.
I’m not sad at all to learn that co-op was scrapped since hl1 didn’t even have co-op.
Also, there are co-op mods for all source games out there, so I’m sure they can be adapted for this game too with ease if somebody really wants to play bms co-op.
BMS didn’t actually make too much sense to be played in co-op anyway…

Neither did Half-Life. In theory it sounds retarded, but if you boot up Sven Co-Op with some friends it becomes a totally new experience.

Valve needs to release the developers from the unneeded NDA so that they can let fans know what is happening with the creation of the Xen half of the game. It was stupid and unnecessary of Valve to put them under such constraints.

They’ve never given updates on Xen, even before the NDA. You don’t need to know anything, anyway.

Why would I not need to know anything? Any fan of the game would want to get occasional updates from the developers on what is going on with the Xen addition and what a hopeful ETA is. To say I “don’t” need this information is pretty rude on your part.

But you don’t, and that’s a fact. Unless you have a note from your doctor, that is.

And like I said, Black Mesa has a history of not acknowledging anything Xen-related until it’s release, same with release dates. What could they even tell you? What would you even want to hear? Making percentages isn’t easy, and only makes people come up with estimates, then that starts rumors, then people believe that and get pissed at the devs for not meeting that date even though they never said anything to begin with. It’s happened.

Xen isn’t the only thing to be addressed in upcoming updates, and if you peak around the forums you’ll have noticed (like always!) there’s small tidbits here and there. Like their porting to Source 2013 build.

Black Mesa has a history of not acknowledging anything “because” Valve put an idiotic Non-Disclosure Agreement on them. If it wasn’t for them, they could and more than likely would talk about what is going on with the Xen development. What could they tell their gamer fans? Plenty? Like mod makers on moddb.com, they could share images of creatures, level designs, short animatics, ideas, etc. Keeping in touch with the community is a good thing, not bad. As mentioned, I said an estimated ETA, not a definite. It will be done when it’s done viewpoint is fine, but still having a release goal is worth having in the long run. The developers of the great “Underhell” mod for HL2 is a perfect example of how to stay in touch with fans, as well as get ideas from them and beta test. But, with BMS team, it all comes back to the stupid NDA situation. So, they can’t say anything, which is a real shame.

Let me be extremely clear, we’re not talking about Xen because of a collective team decision, not because of VALVe’s NDA. Please stop faulting them for something they have nothing to do with. There are things we can’t talk about because the BMS team isn’t ready to, and there are things that we can’t talk about because of the NDA. Right now, we don’t have anything we can share. Sorry.

Thanks for clearing that up, your-name-here.

I hope that the BMS team will talk about Xen when it is almost done.

I find it hard to believe that you “don’t have anything” to share, but if you want to stay silent and keep your fans in the dark, I’m cool with that. I just hope the Xen development isn’t going to be sitting around in 2016.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
