Can't launch game

everytime I try lauching the game, I get an error message saying: cfileSystem_steam::init() failed: failed to find steam interface

It only happens when I try to run Black Mesa. I tried googling it but nothing helpful came up. Maybe some one in the Black Mesa community can help.

SAME HERE OMG ITS SO FRUSTRATING

is your copy of black mesa in C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\SourceMods? and is it named BMS?

I’m having the same problem. I tried getting into Source SDK Base 2007 as well and I got the same error. I think Steam broke it.

Yes it is in that folder and named BMS it was working just yesterday morning but now its broken :’( I just wanna play

Seems like I’m able to get in now. Weird. Valve still needs to fix this issue with SDK Base 2007.

Still won’t work for me :frowning:

I hope Valve fixes this issue very soon.

There was a steam update released but it STILL WONT WORK. D:<

Oh well, I got the same problem. I hope valve does something about this soon.

Perfectly working Steam, with a perfectly working source engine. - The Dream.

sorry to say this but, your images scares me.

Has anyone figured out yet, how to fix the problem?

Hey guys i found a solution to the error you guys are having, i had the same error and i got it working.

Frist completely exit Steam

Go to your steam folder in Program Files (x86) for windows 7 (eg. C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam)

then go to SteamApps

then go to your account folder. (in my case its frats1)

Delete the folder Source SDK Base 2007

then go back and go to the common folder

Copy and paste the Source SDK base 2007 folder into your account folder (again in my case frats1)

Relaunch Steam again and try launching the game again.

For me this fixed it and im able to play again. Hope this works for your guys

Hey guys, I seem to be having the same problem, I used Frats’ fix but it failed to work I’m still trying so maybe I just did it wrong, but if anyone knows a different way tell me.

thumbs up 4 frats solution

worked for me

thx

i had this issue earlier today, right click on the steam install for HL2 or even the SDK and goto ‘verify game cache’. should fix any issues

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
