[Bugs] Achievement text not showing,Titles not showing correctly

Pretty simple. When I check out my achievements, it tells me I’ve done some, shows the pictures, but has no text stating what they are. As for the titles, the text pops up, but it pops up as file names and such, not as the actual chapters names. Otherwise, the game runs quite well, although I had some major lag with the helicopter, forcing me to use god mode and take it out.

I had the same problem with the achievements and titles but i found a solution.

At the install i named the file “Black Mesa” but it must be “BMS” (steamapps\SourceMods\BMS). If you named it other, just rename the file.

DAM YOU lol why did you post on the other forum i re-downloaded the whole thing, thinking mine was corrupted. o well THX for the fix they need to post this on forum sticky or a read me or somthing people dont think a folder name would ever be BMS more black mesa source

Sorry, what you mean with other forum?

https://forums.blackmesasource.com/showthread.php?t=13000

They named it “BEFORE YOU POST”, and i thought there is a info about; be sure your problem don’t already exist, search before your post…

Sorry for that

This happens because some rocket scientist dev decided to use the installation folder for Black Mesa as part of the filename for the resource files, and some of the resource names.

So if you installed the game to \SteamApps\SourceModsBlackMesa\ for example, the game will look for a resource file called BlackMesa_english.txt and since that file doesn’t exist (it’s called BMS_english.txt), it will be unable to load the resources.

Partial solution: rename \SteamApps\SourceModsyour_bms_install_name\resources\BMS_english.txt to \SteamApps\SourceModsyour_bms_install_name\resourcesyour_bms_install_name_english.txt (or whatever language you’re using). This will fix everything except the chapter titles in the “New Game” screen.

Aside: this bug is pretty representative of the amount of testing that actually went into Black Mesa, i.e. slightly more than zero and significantly less than it should have been for an 8-year development cycle (and the game is not finished yet…).

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
