Broken Cable stuck in video plugin. Blah.

So, my buddy gave me this TV. He said when he bought it from Wal*Mart (Go figure) it looked like someone had broken the end tip of a video cable in the port on the back of the TV and just returned it.

Does anyone have any ideas how to get it out of the plug? I have no idea what to do. Blaaah.

Here’s a picture of it

Try a powerful magnet, that’s how I got a broken tip out of the line-in jack of my amp.

Ah! I didn’t think of that. Awesome, thanks!

You could try soldering a cable to it and then pull it out. It’s the only way I can think of.

If you can access the other end you can try and push it out. And if all else fails, drill the shit out of it.

Alternative method: hammer it to bits and pieces. That always does wonders for my state of mind.

fill it w. water untilll the pressure forces out the thing like a torpedo

that sounds pretty awesome, direct it at a cat or a dog or another small animal, or at someone you don’t like (preferably cohabitants)

Hard micro screw. Screw it in half way into the broken off end, then use the head of the screw to pull out the piece.

More importantly, why did your “buddy” give you an obviously (to him) defective TV?

If you can disassemble the whole connector panel, you might get easier access… and be able to put whatever you want in it without risking damage to the TV.

Probably because he couldn’t be bothered fixing it and thought he’d pass it on to someone else, or something. Hey, it’s a free TV!

Surely some basement dwelling stoner geek would be pleased getting a broken TV for free! He could spend time repairing it with free spare parts, then spend time boasting about it on the internet and then smoke the biggest blunt you’ve ever seen (and boast about it on the internet as well, of course).

Day well spent.

super glue and string.

usually takes a crane to get it out

Punch the TV very hard until it falls or the TV breaks in half.

I agree with this part.

maybe like a centrifuge? or telekinesis

I’m sorry, I only fix LCD screens, those TV’s hurt my eyes especially when I’m stoned.

But you don’t wanna know how I deal with stuck pins inside a connector, I once had a similar problem in a VGA port, so I cut off most of the pin on the vga cable so it just barely touches the stuck pin with the tip of the cut off one, still works fine to this day, except I can’t use any other monitors on that computer, and vice versa. :S
