I played it on PS2, and found it quite enjoyable. Not the best game ever by any means, but as far as movie games go, it was pretty good.
Enter The Matrix has a rather unenviable position among the games I’ve played- namely, my closest friends and I refer to it as “The Unmentionable Game” due to the poor-imitation Max Payne gameplay, sub-par graphics, terrible hand to hand combat system, and truely irredeemably bad driving missions. The hacking interface was also dumb.
A great movie to game conversion would be something like “The Chronicles of Riddick- Escape from Butcher Bay.” A very well made stealth action game from Starbreeze. (I played the 360 remake + sequel “Escape from Dark Athena.” Say what you will about the expansion, but the commentary mode was cool and the graphics were incredible.)
The Riddick game came out roughly at the same time as Doom 3 and had better graphics than that.
I’d stand by that as well. An above average experience, as it’s better than most movie to game adaptations. I haven’t played Max Payne yet, so I really don’t have that to compare it to, so Max Payne will be compared to Enter the Matrix in that respect, when I do get around to playing it.
Plus, I’ve made two playthroughs, and I figure, if I enjoyed it the second time around, it can’t be that bad of a game.
Basically, the whole point of Max Payne is to be awesome. I lol’d hard the first time I sniped someone using bullet time.
I look forward to it.
Yeah, the Max Payne series rocks…MP3 doesn’t look very special at the moment though.
It’s not really like BC2. It plays very much like Rainbow Six:Vegas 1 and 2 but with destructible scenery and a whole lot of Counter-Strike thrown in.
So in other words, not worth your money or time.
Oh and the graphics of Riddick is clearly subjective, because I thought it looked terrible when compared with Doom 3. The level of detail in the environment is incredible in Doom 3 compared to Riddick. Also, Riddick is the only game to out plastic face Doom 3. People look proper strange in that game. I can’t say I enjoyed either game very much, the first person hand to hand combat in Riddick was unbearable.
We haven’t heard at all from MP3 for quite a while, wouldn’t surprised me if they’ve scrapped the hobo-looking Max and daytime gameplay and have gone back to the classy and in-shape leather jacket Max and night-time New York setting.
BUT IRON MAN JEFF BRIDGES COME ON!
(that’s what I thought of when I first saw the character design for MP3 though it would be pretty badass if they could get JB on board to do the voice)
