BMS Translate is down, what now?

So the original forum of Black Mesa Translate is down Link here and I was wondering, did you found a new site already because it’s hard to contact any of those guys because I don’t know there names on this forum as well as there steam ID’s.

We knew that BMTranslate would go down so we did already saved most of the translations, don’t worry about that.

…FAQ: Yes that website is down for ever and no they will not put it back online anymore.

Well, I’m honestly not sure. Vidanor has been kinda MIA, so perhaps I’ll look for a place somewhere to create a new forum. I didn’t see much progress during the time the other forum was up though, but I’m hoping things are gonna work out now that we’re getting close to the release date (or are we? :stuck_out_tongue: )

But yeah, I’ll look around for a place, if Vidanor doesn’t beat me to it.

It’s more realistic in English anyway. The game takes place in an English speaking country, everyone speaks English, just take in the whole experience as if you are “immersed” in this English-speaking environment. Subtitles ruin immersion so just roll with it IMHO.

I know, I personally don’t like translations, but there are people who simply don’t know the language, or they don’t like it, even. It’s more of a service for them, I think

If you don’t know English, it is more realistic that you wouldn’t understand dialogue English-speaking characters were saying, isn’t it not?

if anyone can find the person that ran that site. have them e-mail me at hosting@tapgamer.com

If you mean Vidanor, then he’s pretty much disappeared, but I’m sure he’ll come back… I hope :frowning:

Subtitles doesn’t ruin much the immersion. DUBBING DOES.

(that above) And not everybody’s English is perfect.

And If you ask me, we did made lots of progress but we just don’t have enough people for all the languages (If somebody on this forum finds people from another country - ask them or they want to translate for BMS).

And Hubicorn - “forumplace” went down because they didn’t had enough money to keep it up also they had a lot of spammers (also a problem on BMStranslate).

They said that english will be the only language in Black Mesa translations will be made separately probably by the fans I guess not by BMS team

Sometimes Gameplay > Realism. Wouldn’t be too fun if everyone in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. spoke Russian, don’t you think?

I understand English but I don`t know how to translate well anyway I understand the essential :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes it would, why do you ask?

Um, I beg to differ. I hate games / movies / etc, that place you in another country and then have all English speaking characters. That’s basically why I didn’t watch Inglorious Basterds (I heard they didn’t speak German throughout).

I guess you do have a point, but still, as I said this is more of a service for people who don’t know English/simply prefer subtitles. As simple as that

Now, I’ve put this together. It may not be so cool as the other one, but I guess it works :stuck_out_tongue:

oh u

So you would have liked a movie entirely in german (with French parts) subtitled in English?

Yes.

I understand english perfectly well, and I enjoy video game immersion, but I ALWAYS turn on FULL subtitles. That includes in-game SFX, speech, etc. I can’t stand missing a word of dialogue, and it makes the experience seem more cinematic for me.

You were sadly misinformed. They speak German or French where appropriate. If I remember correctly at least.

What is this, people hating on the translations? What are you trying to do, stop certain people enjoying the game?

You may not need them, no reason to complain about them.

If there’s any need of help in translations. I could help translating it to finnish.
