BMS: Black Mesa Swarm

I just thought that this is kind of cool.

Not a bad idea but those levels were not designed for coop gameplay, all those small corridors and stuff like that will cause lots of problems gameplay wise.

Was the part about trying to outdo BM a joke?

^ Well, it certainly was for me…

…regardless of the intentions of the Black Mesa Swarm team :retard:

That’s what I assumed.

lol This would be somewhat cool if they it wasn’t just importing the original maps. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah…would be more interested with different assets instead of the Swarm characters in HL:S maps…

It’s a good idea but the devs must be fully retarded if they think a remake of HL in top down view is more adequate than a first person remake.

Still should be pretty interesting.

Well, it’s certainly an experiment, but I wouldn’t think about releasing it, well, maybe, I really don’t know if this is a good idea, or bad, or just neutral. It really isn’t made for coop game play, we all know that, and some parts would have to be cut and stuff due to the movement limits in Alien Swarm (Such as not being able to climb ladders, jump, etc.) So it really isn’t that bad of an idea, but shouldn’t be considered.

First person mode, problem solved.

They really should just go for a black mesa look with a few levels that would be recognized from the original but attempt to stray away from the original storyline/maps.

The whole thing is definitely a joke.

From their forum page:

Both from devs, no more than a month ago. Also moddb says release date is in 2012 which again makes this seem like a joke

Sorry if i pointed out an obvious fact, but I expected this to be real. The idea itself I think is good if it wasn’t a troll project like School Shootout, which coincidentally, is also a very good idea
EDIT: good idea for a mod, not a real life occurrence

Sounds to me like some guys that are butthurt that Black Mesa isn’t out yet, and they’re taking the lazy route to “outdo” a team that has been working for 6 years to redo the entire game.

Now that we know it’s a joke… It’s still possible that someone will try and do it. Positive thinking anyone?:retard::meh:

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
