I don’t know when it first happened, but at some point I got blood on me when using the pistol, and it apparently never went away. Been there for hours now, and resetting the game doesn’t do anything. It’s not there when using any other weapon. Wish I knew how I made it happen to help you out more.
I took the attached screenshot at the beginning of Powered Up, in the hall before the first Gargantua. I didn’t think the location matters though.
