Yeah, it responded to satchels. I actually did really well with them, dropping one wherever I entered and triggering it when needed.
Just wondering. The giant fan, can it be turned off once it’s on?
EDIT: NM, found an earlier auto-save for this map
Thanks. I’m now out of Blast Pit.
You’re supposed to turn it on, if you reloaded an earlier save you’re doing it wrong.
Turn it on and sprint for the ladder. Then climb up between blades to avoid getting killed while it is still at its slowest speed.
That ladder was frustrating! I kept getting stuck on it, unable to dismount right because of the way Source 2007 handles ladder usage.
Ok, I am utterly stuck at the fan. I got it on, I got back up the ladder and I jumped into the wind like you are supposed to, but I can’t get in any vents. And the one at the top that I believe I am supposed to go into, that fan stops me before even getting to it.
iirc I went into the middle one.
I just got through the part with the 3-clawed monster in blast pit. I somehow managed to down 6 saves on the part right after it. Now i have a problem - i have 7 healthpoints and theres no health kits or anything to be had. I cant keep playing the game. Console commands don’t work in this game at all even if they are correct, so now i am stuck in a position where i have 7 health, i cant go back to try and do the claw part with more health remaining because i have no saves and i cant keep playing forward because i die. Suggestions?
Apparently there is supposed to be a med kit right after you come up from the water but when i jump to the water from the ladder i die every time because there is one of those acid spitting things waiting for you at the bottom. There is no way to clear this part without getting hit once with the acid.
Don’t jump into the radioactive goo. Once you come up out of the water, you’ll be on a wide shelf. There’s a ladder on the right-hand side that takes you to health and HEV chargers.
EDIT (10:19 PM): Ignore the suggestion below, it appears someone already applied a more ‘convenient’ solution, that doesn’t use cheats.
If you don’t have any problems with using cheats (when it’s necessary), you can try to give yourself 10 healthpacks using this command (use it 10 times):
give item_healthvial
…or you could try to replay the level, while avoiding to take as much damage, to be left with only 7 HP.
What part is this? I don’t remember there being a Bullsquid there.
Did you burn the Tentacles yet?
Ok guys i made it!
Didn’t use any cheats because the console doesnt work for me
basically you just have to headshot the bullsquid while you are in the air dropping down and you will lose no hp. U have to fight through alot of enemies before the first health generator thing comes up though.
Hi,
I have just enterd a chamber of green goo and the the elevator that should be there is missing, looks like it has already gone to the top of the silo - see picture.
Is this a bug or have I failed to press a button or something?
Bug, methinks.
I seem to be having this exact problem, they aren’t distracted or affected by anything it seems. I’ve got everything turned on but for some reason I can’t seem to make it past them like I did earlier.
I used a mixture of old familiar tactics and new ones.
I first of all used grenades to clear the wood out of the doors on both exits from as close to the start position as possible.
Then I found that I needed to get the grenade one level above or below the level exit I wanted to use.
I also found that I could hang out on the ladder safely if I made sure I was just under being level with the floor. In other words getting on the ladder and going down until just under the level of the floor.
You can’t toss the grenades as high so when you do toss them make sure you aim higher than you think you need to. Place it as far away from your destination as possible one level up or down. Be ready to move.
The nearest tentacle to the explosion will 9/10 times start banging directly on the spot of the explosion. The next nearest will move over and investigate often. The third will show initial interest- make your move as soon as possible.
Face the tentacles and strafe towards the nearest ladder always ready to toss your next grenade away from your direction of travel.
Hide on the next ladder as before if you have to.
On a door level…toss the grenade away from your eventual direction of travel…start to slowly crouch walk when it’s about to detonate. When you get close to the door do not be afraid to sprint.
Save smart.
Anyone know how far back I should go to clear this or am I stuffed?
Anything before the last loading screen should suffice.
They’re smarter than in Half-Life. When you detonate a grenade, one or two of them will check it out while the other stays behind.
Because of this, it works better when you use multiple grenades in different locations. Satchels work too.
