Black Screen at startup

Hi all,

When i start the game from steam i get a black screen / no sound and nothing happens.

Usually when i get this it’s a resolution problem, but i can’t find a way to force the startup res in the config files…

Please Help

Try right-clicking on Black Mesa in Steam, click on Properties, click on Set Launch Options and add -width x -height y in the dialogue box (where x is your desired horizontal resolution and y is your desired vertical resolution, e.g. -width 1024 -height [noparse]768[/noparse]).

I’m having this same problem – basically it’s a black screen but i can hear the background noise for the menu screen and i can hear the selection noises when i press arrow keys but the screen is black. I tried editing the resolution via the launch properties, but still no dice. Any ideas?

edit: I also tried to run in windowed mode and the window is black, but I can still hear the menu screen
