Black Mesa texture randomizer?

I played Glitch-Life for the Svenn-Coop mod on the original Half-Life, and was wondering if anyone made it for Black Mesa?

Not as far as I know. But it would be relatively simple to write a simple script that just randomly swaps the names of every *.vtf file in the /materials folder…

Not sure if that’s even a remotely good idea though. :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT:

I couldn’t resist, so I wrote a script to randomly swap all your texture files.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14565853/vtfswapper/vtfswapper.zip

Unzip the zip file and extract the two *.exe files to your \BMS folder. The program vtfswapper.exe will randomly swap all your texture files, and vtfunswapper.exe will undo everything that vtfswapper.exe does. Do NOT delete the ‘vtfRemap.txt’ file that vtfswapper.exe generates, or else vtfunswapper.exe won’t be able to undo the changes!

These scripts are provided for you to use at your own risk, without any warranty whatsoever. Permission is granted to use them for hilarity’s sake. However, I am not responsible if you manage to permanently FUBAR your Black Mesa. Also, I do not guarantee what effects either vtfswapper.exe or vtfunswapper.exe will have on your system if you do not use them as instructed. You have been warned.

Google Chrome might mark the file as “dangerous” because it’s not commonly downloaded (I literally finished coding it just now). I was about to put some message in this post saying that these programs actually aren’t dangerous, but hell, I’d be lying. Using them can and probably will seriously FUBAR your Black Mesa textures.

If you’re interested, I’ve also made the source code for both scripts available on github.

Have fun.

DKY, you beautiful fucking bastard.

+1

What would we do without him?

Wither and die, most likely.

I noticed that you have the Hazard Course on your main BM menu.
