Black Mesa speaks to kotaku?

@The One Free Cake: LOL that’s rich… At least the writer of the article used a REAL quote instead of pulling one out of their ass, like your first sentence.
Tell me where Raminator and other devs have repeatedly said in the last months that it will probably be out in about a year?

to be fair, they’ve been saying it will be out soon for quite a long time now

A year means soon for devs

I have a feeling they’d replace the main page, not the forums.

Oh, the main page? Meh, still don’t see why they’ll replace it, except for updating it with a link to the download page or maybe just get rid of the “when it’s done approach” quote.

A better layout probably. Something more ergonomic. Or just a drastic visual change to show that something has in fact happened.

entire overhaul

Shit’s gonna look bawss

Can we at least expect a read-only archive for the big-ass threads in the BM related sections of the forums?

I guess only a style overhaul not a functional overhaul so most things on the forums might get another color but thats all. dont worry your trolls are not gonna be deleted  .

Why the fuck would anyone want to read this shit?
Also you all have beef with Kotaku, would you like buns and mayo to go with it?

After release, the suggestions forum will no longer be necessary, so I guess it would make sense to delete it, same thing for the community projects and some threads in the Cafeteria.

In fact, it would make sense if the “Black Mesa” section of sub-forums was laid out as such after the initial SP release:

 • News
 • The Cafeteria or Feedback Room
 • Black Mesa Mod Help and Technical Support
 • Suggestions for Future MP Release
 • Website Support

All the forums in that section would be completely reset, except News, with the more important threads like “Got a Question/Ask the Devs/Got a quick suggestion?” and a few more being stored in a new Archive forum way down there in the new forum.

I think the entire forums should be wiped clean and, with the website overhaul, start anew with forum sections to discuss the mod and a continuation of the off-topic sections. Everyone has to re-register and start off as cockroaches. Yeah.

Clean slate, yo.

Sure but still make an archive section, please?

I just hope I’m not forced to use some dark theme for the forums with this overhaul.

Why keep tons of crap nobody will read ?

Also I’m not fond of the clean slate approach, being in the middle of all those future newbies/trolls/kids/autistics without some sort of distinction, it will be hard to keep the forum in line.

I’d prefer not to wipe the slate clean. Just pointless, and well, there can be mod discussion sections of the forum instead. Plus, I do like a few threads here going on here currently, I’ve had alot of fun on some of them, so I’d hate to see them go. Plus, I can always laugh at threads that have said “Y ISNT DIS RELEESED YET?”, even if they are old, they’re still funny.

Community Projects could be changed to “mod” showcase. I’m sure there’s gonna be lots of texture packs and sound replacements for BM when it’s out.

Because people will read it, and it will be hilarious in retrospect.

I believe Raminator has stated that they will reset the forums so as to get rid of a lot of the elitism going on around here.

Not that it will make a difference.

It will just grow back. All the whiners complaining about the mod not coming out will instead be droning on about how the graphics are oudtated and that they should have used fuzzy-input-lag-cryengine3.
