Sorry if I say something totally stupid.

The YouTube video is unlisted, which means you can only see it if you follow a valid link, and it’s not indexed in the site’s search engine. Just pointing that out for the folks out there that didn’t notice.

Running an online ‘whois’ command for the domain reveals this:

I don’t have the tech knowledge to interpret that correctly. Oh, and the server is located in Scottsdale, Arizona. I dunno if that fits the time zone on the site, but I’m too lazy right now to look it up

Great find, though. Cracking this probably feels like watching a good thriller movie for most of you fellas :stuck_out_tongue: From a first person POV, of course

I have a giant deja vu right now.

There’s more websites about black mesa O.O I found this one in the half life 2 test film. But that movie isn’t coming out for a while. Oh well heres the links. Enjoy

Babel was some stupid shit some people tried to pull with the portal 2 arg. Its not related to anything.

unrelated to black mesa and valve

they just used some sounds and the general style of hl2

The address only stands for GoDaddy.com through which BLACKMESARESEARCHFACILITY.COM domain has been registered. You will find many other sites that share the same information those who have been registered through GoDaddy.com

EDIT:Wait has it been online all along since March 2009?

that giant deja vu is from the portal update release. the steam forums cracked that code by workin it for 40 hours straight. But yeah Scottsdale is part of Arizona’s capital, i would know i live in Arizona. What those pictures are from are like the I-10 on the way to phoenix from tucson, or Utah of Southern NM (Where the real black mesa is.)

The domain whois tells us very little, other than the owner of the site is trying to hide his identity by using a private signup so it’s not tied to a business name or a person’s name. Additionally, the name servers, email serves, and webservers are all run through GoDaddy, so there’s very little to be gleemed from that.

When I attempted to do the employment link, it flashed Gman’s face and then went to the 404 page.

I agree, but the second video from “what’s in the box” with the people on the bridge is quite cool though

Really bro?

Going back to the binary transmissions, we have parts 1, 2 and 4, but not 3 (excluding guesswork!). This makes me think we’ve perhaps missed a step somewhere? Has anyone found transmission 3?!

MrNerfTron, the uploader of the video, is registered as being from Engle, New Mexico, which is currently a ghost town with few people living in it, according to the web. Well, the New Mexico part ties in nicely with Black Mesa…

:stuck_out_tongue:

Johnyo,

Yeah I know that we’ve guessed transmission 3 (hence my “excluding guesswork” comment)! My point was where is it hidden, and is there anything we can gain from finding it?!

Long shot of course!

Oh… sorry then. My bad.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
