Black Mesa no longer works - ISSUE FIXED: UPDATE SOURCE SDK BASE 2007

Hi!

Recently Source SDK 2007 has been updated, with a painful side-effect:

Black mesa and the others source 2007 mods no longer work.

I tried to run Black mesa and Nmrih and I had this:

Unfortunately, It seems that this new update is creating problems also to those that use hammer(and develops source 2007 mods).

If you’re playing BM right now or if you’re developing mods(Hey Hezus, Text, DKY…do you hear me?) for BM you should prevent steam from update the Source SDK base 2007.

There’s a thread in nmrih forums about this issue

Steam Dev Forum Thread about this issue
Zombie panic source forum thread

note for moderators: I had to create this thread in this forum because of the importance of this issue.

My Case:

oh, shit
here we go again…

Seems the big picture update for 2007 probably broke something, I’ll get someone looking into it ASAP.

Unfortunately all 2007 mods doesn’t work:
will valve fix it?
will devs fix it?

The worst thing is that this update creates lot of troubles for hammer users too(source 2007).

Valve gotta state something about it!!!

Finally some reply from “a” dev after a while :expressionless: good news.

I’m mostly active in the bug reporting section of the forum

They’ve signed an NDA, don’t be too harsh on them.
Hubicorn(webmaster of these forums) said that they’ll release a steam version bug-free and then they’ll add XEN

Post of the year!

Damn it Valve, They don’t even realize their fans were playing SDK Mods, I bet they didn’t even test their Update before releasing it.

well if this aint aggravatin…was taking a break after tryin to get through the explosives warehouse (and gettin blown up a few times…LOL), and when i come back…NADA…hope this glitch isnt a drawn out deal.

it’s not a glitch, it’s just Valve being Valve again

Just as I was going to play as well. I was thinking “if that updated can’t play can I?”. Suspicions confirmed.

Valve, FFFUUU-

Yeah, sure. I know you guys have RL stuff to do and (hopefully lol) are still working on the game, but at least a post once a week in here (cafeteria) would warm my heart, as since the “release” it feels kinda abandoned around. I know you won’t talk about Xen and Ram is busy as I heard, but got any update on if Deathmatch is gonna have an open beta or not?

More on topic, hopefully this won’t postpone any further progress on the mod by much, and if so, then you guys got some vacation at least :retard:

Haha wow, even launching Source SDK Base 2007 ON ITS OWN, without even using any mods, crashes it with the same error. I really seriously hope that Valve fixes this ASAP, I can’t do ANY mapping at all until it’s fixed. Plus Hammer’s totally broken too.

If they don’t fix it within 2 days, that means your new ST release won’t be out right?

Oh lord I don’t think I can handle that. D;

[COLOR=‘Red’]Valve has fixed the issue in a shockingly timely manner. Update 2007 SDK if you don’t have auto-update set on Steam.

Yeah, it’s fixed now. Carry on.

Based Valve.

Thank God, I said in my thread that they’d hopefully fixed it quickly and people laughed!

Breaking every Source mod based on their '07 engine was just too serious to ignore, glad to see they’re still paying attention.

I’m relieved. I was dreading not being able to map for weeks!

I even changed my avatar for this, shortest shitstorm ever

Oh thank God that was fast!

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
