Black Mesa Lobby remake by Ansith*

I’m sure some of you older members have seen this, but since it was last posted way back when the forums were on gamernode, I thought I’d post it.
This is a HL1 version of the black mesa lobby by the mapper Ansith.
Get the map here, and you can watch reviews here.
Little something to help tide you all over until BM is finished.

 • Disclaimer: I did not make this, nor am I trying to take credit for it. I just happened to be playing it again tonight (spawning monsters in it is fun) and realized most of the newer members probably haven’t seen it.

It’s about 5 minutes long…

That’s what she said.

What?

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooold.

Lol thats cool.

I downloaded it, but then windows asked me if I wanted to replace a file with the same name and size, so I guess I already played this before.

thats fucking brilliant, somebody should remake the entirety of Black Mesa in GoldSRC. The future/retro awesomeness would be off the charts!

Except it’s alot harder, you have almost no models, all the work is done in hammer, which crashes all the time.

=

Black mesa coming out in 5 minutes

Oh wait making games is hard? Never mind then.

I think your idea is redundant and pointless. Is that a good enough reason :3

You can’t expect a total conversion through nothing but hammer… well, maybe if you had no idea what hammer is. That or you enjoy watching people doing something out of their free time and love for HL1 suffer.

No it doesn’t.
What version did you try?

The latest gold source version (3.5 I think) crashes a lot.

A good enough reason for…?

I use it all the time, It doesn’t give me any problems.

That’s probably cuz you know all the things that make it crash and you instinctivly avoid doing them.

Use carve tool extensively imo

Don’t carve with cylinders and you should be fine. If not, TWHL’s forums or the Valve wikican always help.
EDIT: Having less than 9 texture WADs loaded can help reduce errors, as well.

Carve a torus into a sphere then tie it to func_physbox imo

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
