LOL if only you had said beforehand that you were trying to install in somewhere else other than where steam was installed…you cannot install a game just like that in any directory if it is supposed to be launched via steam. There is in fact a way of doing that but it is a little manual process. Anyways, have fun, this mod is just plain mind-blowing!!!

Alright, I’m having some serious trouble installing this.
I’ve downloaded the zip file, which included:
1)Blackmesa.7z
2)Blackmesa.md5
3)BlackMesa-setup.exe
I extracted these into their own folder
I installed Source SDK Base 2006 and 2007
I closed steam then ran the launcher, using default settings
When the launcher is running, I get a WHOLE LOT of file errors, and have to cancel the installation.
I know it’s not the system requirements, because my older brother did the same thing with his desktop which I know is above minimum requirements by far.
Can anyone tell me what we’re doing wrong?
Where did you download the zip from? If torrent, try and force Re-check to see if its missing a few pieces of data…or otherwise, try unzipping on a different drive perhaps and then try re-installing it.
I’m past 75%, and that’s all I really know.

How do I download from Steam?

So i tried re-extracting the files from the original .zip file through WinRar, and got this error:
! C:\Users\Justice\Desktop\BMS\BlackMesa.zip: CRC failed in BlackMesa.7z. The file is corrupt
I extracted them into a folder i made on my desktop called “BMS”, for organization 
lol… im just messin’.
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

So was it a torrent download? IF it is, follow my earlier instructions… if it is not, then well it looks like you got an incomplete corrupted download.
No, i got it from the FileShack mirror. I tried doing a manual install, but winrar seems to think that blackmesa.7z is corrupt
EDIT: I ended up downloading the .7z file separately
So that means, you got a corrupted incomplete download, you will have to redownload unfortunately…I say use torrent if you know how that works.
