Black Mesa in VR

Valve implemented 7 different control schemes for TF2.
This is the beginning, a Wolfenstein 3D kind of an era, which had a terrible mouse support and it took years to get the proper mouselook (Quake I) that became the industry standard for FPP games.
As Carmack said (about VR): “everyone working today is a pioneer. The paradigms that everyone will take for granted in the future are being figured out today.”

I still doubt VR will become that big of a thing in the home, for casual or competitive gaming. If only for the fact that it only works with first person games (maybe third person).

It’d work for thirst person games. Your head’s just the camera.

i think any game can be made in FP, with VR.
like dota2, where you actualy play the charecter and you can be shot in your back any time

its the future

A developer actually made a tower defense game using a occulus rift. It really does help immersion, as you can look around your castle from up above, and view that battle. Right here:

I do think that Oculus rift is the future of gaming. At least I hope it is.

I honestly can’t see gamers come out of their comfy chairs for any stretch of time. If you don’t need to stand up sure, but otherwise I don’t think it will have much impact beyond novelty.

I think that the players of the Wii would beg to differ. Somewhat.

yeah ok but that’s mostly casual let’s-get-together-and-play-some-board-games-type games/atmosphere, as far as im aware

most of the gaming business revolves around playing games by yourself (multiplayer through internet or single player)
you know, the type of gamer who just comes home, turns on his computer, and then settles in for some deeply relaxing vidya games after a long day.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
