Black Mesa Gib sound/Body Impact mod

Basically, I noticed several unused (or sparingly used?) gibbing sounds while digging through the sound folders in BM, so I decided to try applying them to some of the soft/loud impact sounds for bodies, along with some other sounds I had and this was the result.

Nice work! I think i never heard gibbing sounds or it it really quiet sound. Shame explosions can gib only corpses, but i think that thing is not fixable :frowning:

The only issue with this work is that a human skull also has this flesh-like impact sound, while it shouldn’t have. Is it possible to fix that?

This would need coding, obviously the flesh impact would sound fine for a bullet to the head, but I think you are talking about when you hit something in the head with the crowbar?

I too want the thud sound like the original but unless someone knows how I think this is as good as we can have it at the moment.

Among different gibs (liver, brain, arm, leg etc.) there’s also a human skull, and that is the only gib that the new impact sounds don’t fit. I didn’t mean hitting with a crowbar, just tossing the gibs around.

the impacts also play on crowbar hits too…

Ha Ha I like the idea, perhaps the vmt for the gib skull could be altered to be a different material and then the sound can be played that way?

I am thinking a sound similar to at the end of conan the barbarian (original arnie version) where he throws the head down the stairs

Then you may need to add a script entry for the material surface sound in the script that contains the material sounds.

I ported these to l4d2 a while back. Works a lot better with that game’s dismemberment system than the one in BM

I had a look for the gib skull and I could not find it. Did you manage to find the model?

Plastic head crab crates are also the wrong material there a probably a few dotted around the game that is models with the wrong material type.
