BLACK MESA - DVD Sleeves ( Covers / Box Art )

Well you have to remember these were made before they said, " No moe Co-Op and Deathmatch."

Okay, corrected dvd:

Hope you like this one

What do you guys think about the placement of the Black Mesa Logo?

As an aside, I would consider trashing the disclaimer entirely, and to be a total PITA, you misspelled “modification”. Also, the black hashed border serves a good purpose, but the Black Mesa title extends beyond the border - perhaps shrink it a bit to fit within the border?

These are merely my opinions, of course, please don’t waste your time making changes just because I said to  . And on the flip side, you did some really good work on both the box art and the DVD label. 2 thumbs up

Needs LOTS of work…

  • Placement of the large logo sucks, its just awkward.

  • Small logo next to big one… why?

  • Valve and Source Logos overlap, not good.

  • The little ‘Note’ is pointless.

  • Drop Shadow behind the ‘Black Mesa’ is too strong and doesnt match the direction of the shadow on the Valve/Source logos.

  • The ‘Black Mesa Team’ can not be a trademark… they are people.

  • The Black Mesa Logo if its even trademarked by anyone, is trademarked by Valve, but def not the team.

  • The BMS Logo isnt trademarked either.

  • TOO DAMN MANY LINES! Little lines on big lines, surrounded by guess what… more lines!

@JeffMOD
Are you looking for any specific font? Like what part did I use it on?

Also, why not just pick your own fonts and be original?

Yup. I was trying to find the font about 2 weeks ago, but quickly gave up because I had a SVG version of the logo. Then I decided to try and make a DVD cover myself, and while browsing through the installed fonts to use on my cover I noticed that the Trebuchet MS is the one featured on official logo.

I made a new version of the logo for my cover, with the same font (though it’s bold now) and the Lambda symbol from HalfLife2.ttf in HL2 files (folder “resources”), but with a difference that there is much less empty space between the letters.
I also removed the S marking, it doesn’t fit in the logo and it looks better without it IMO.

I’m busy these days so I haven’t finished the cover yet.

I added note just to response on earlier complaining, but i also don’t want to keep it there. Logo is a little too big, but it was almost midnight in Poland and back then it seemed ok

-I cant think of something better
-Small logo is a placeholder for Black Mesa Team
-I know, but i had no time. I must find “powered by source” instead of source, and then think about placement.
-Note, as explained above
-Which black mesa?

-I just love this line of text, even if it is not entirely right. No changes here.

-Lines, i like them.

Congratulations to all!

I’m brazillian boy… what justify my english  (someone parts were translated in google)
I’m also Half-Life fan…
I found this page and I saw some beautiful works here posted(BoxArt) and I decided to do a news in the site of games about the content.

Site: https://www.GameVicio.com.br
Link to News: Black Mesa: Source - Fans develops ArtBox for their own covers game.

Dont’ worry, I put the credits in each layout.

And how is a page in Portuguese-Br, I already gave myself to translate work, ok?

Congratulations again!
The layouts were beautiful!

Do you have them all?

No, I only put them best five I’ve found in the 15 pages of the topic.

Why you ask? You read the news?

“Rated R for retarded”

I was just looking for the stuff you used on the back, but now that I know the “BM Font” is Trebuchet MS, I’ll use that either way.
As for picking my own Fonts… Tried that, looked bad. Box art is all about aesthetics.

I was curious cuz there are much more than just 5 that have been submitted.
https://www.catzeyes93.com/images/BlackMesaCoversBoxart/

So if you chose the best 5, what is your criteria to make it on your best list? :frowning:

I’ve made some changes to my dvd cover:

Don’t add the extra BM logo on the right, and try removing the Valve logo too (as they did nothing for the mod)

I need to find something that will indicate the black mesa team and “Powered By Source” logo. Developer and game engine have to be on cd cover.

The objective of the news what I did make don’t is show “The Covers” that fans were doing, but to disclose that “The Fans Made”.

That is why I chose only some to illustrate news, understand me?

I can add later, in end the news, the link to the other covers.
If this link you posted here contains all the covers, I will Can use it after.

I dont… understand a word of what you just said. But I think the answer would be “yes”.

All my previous answer in Spanish:

El objetivo de las noticias que no mostraron las bolas que los fans estaban haciendo, pero indican que eran “fans estaban haciendo.”

Es por eso que he elegido unos cuantos para ilustrar la noticia, ¿sabes?

¿Puedo añadir más tarde, al final de la noticia, el vínculo con las otras capas.
Si este enlace publicado aquí contiene todas las portadas, me lo pueda usar posteriormente.

Here is mine. The front cover is more or less finished, but the back one isn’t.

Do you think I should pick another screenshots on the back?

Yes. the background picture is basically drawing your eyes to look at… the ceiling. Find a pic that has something interesting to look at in the upper left corner.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
