Black Mesa Classic Weapons

I believe currently the plan is to wait until the public / secondary beta, as things will be more locked down, then. Crowbar Collective has shown a few signs they might be overhauling the HUD and potentially the viewmodel rigs, both of which would set us back a bit. We’re waiting mainly to make sure everything still works, and if it doesn’t, to see what we’d need to fix to get things released.

As for screenshots, I suppose I can show off the current icon set for the HUD:

That makes sense. Icons look cool! When this pack finally drops I’m taking the day off work and just playing through Black Mesa + Xen in one sitting. It’s gonna be great.

Every day that passes, the release of both Xen and this pack gets released.

No it’s been several hundred days and not one of them has had either of those things released

Ah the beta is here! Not gonna jump in till these weapons are out. Whats the status, guys?

I suppose some work will be needed for crossbow. The scope was remade in technical beta.

@Remer we need to wait until the second beta to release. Seems like CC might still have a few cards up their sleeves; need to make sure nothing in the pack gets broken.
@Tuc0 Yes, work does need to be done for the crossbow, but not for that reason. Scope surprisingly works fine.
You’ll know when we’re close to release.

Hallo @Old_Hermit. Quick question will this pack include custom muzzleflashes and smoke effects for the weapons? P.S keep up the great work being done here! :call_me_hand::call_me_hand:

At the moment, no. Originally, Gunship Mark II had donated some muzzle flashes for use in the pack, seen here:

However, the project was essentially started from scratch when Black Mesa hit steam. Not sure if we even have those particles anymore.

Two things to note: One, those are really old screenshots, so don’t expect them to be representative of the final release. Two, Gunship’s also the creator of MMod, and has decided to take a breather from sourcemods for a while. Not that I expect anyone to, but please don’t bug him about it. That’s my job.

So the damn release has been pushed back again technically. We won’t be getting the whole shebang until some time (“a few weeks, not months” according to CC) after August 1st. I’m guessing that means you guys are gonna wait until the entirety of Xen is out? August 1st is going to be the first two chapters, Xen and Gonarch’s Lair.

It may change, but right now our plans are a little nebulous. We’re currently waiting to see if things change when the August 1st release comes along. It may be right after that, it may be a while after the full launch. We don’t know for sure yet. It’s coming though, don’t worry.

That’s cool. I trust yall, I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait. I’m sure Xen will be worth the wait too but man this is getting frustrating.

Does this Classic Pack’s Glock model have fixed Sprinting animations?

Not in the current rev, no.

What’s wrong with the sprinting animations? Did they get borked in some update.

When Crowbar Collective added CSM to the game, they have to scale everything down as it is causing some weird shadow problems (weapon models, casings, and particle effects), and with this… this somehow broke something on the Glock’s sprinting animation that they have to move this left hand further to the left of the screen. You cannot see it on any resolution screens other than 21:9 while also looking up.

so now that the update/beta dropped, will there be a problem releasing the weapons pack now?

Game Zombie is gonna need to do something for the new Xen intro animation, and finish up the sequences for the crossbow. But no, no big problems or setbacks. I’ll be sure to come back and let everyone know when we’re getting close to release. I know it’s been a super long wait, but just bare with us a bit longer.

Is there a rough estimate on time?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
