Black Mesa blood system for HL2

Really not sure if this should go in the cafeteria. I have no idea where or how to start looking for something like this, so a big description of what I want is how I’m going to go about this.

So you know the way the blood works in Black Mesa, getting it on your weapons, but mostly the way it looks when you kill people, pools on the ground, etc? I want that for standard Half Life 2. Does anyone know of a mod that might do this or similar?

As far as I know this is coded into black mesa.

So you will have to either write your own code or wait for BMS source code to be released.

The blood on the weapons related to modeldetailfx script in the texture files for the weapons.

Damnnit Black Mesa Devs, stop making stuff better than Valve, I don’t want to play their games anymore. :frowning:

I really want a mod for HL2/eps which brings BM’s new features into them. Hopefully that’ll be possible when the Steam version releases :smiley:

I would love to see something like this… I also want to be able to turn off the lazer sight on the HL2 rocket launcher. :slight_smile:

The game Dark Messiah also did it, and it was made on pre-HL2 release source engine.

I think it is something that is already in the source engine but has to be enabled through coding.

Now that would require a re-coding of the weapon, you would have to do it as separate mod, it is not just something you can pop into the HL2 folder.

Yeah, it’s included in the HL2 code that you get with the SDK.
There’s even a tutorial for toggling guidance with it here.

Speaking of coding, does anyone happen to know a good reference documentation of Valve’s libraries? The VDW is surprisingly unhelpful at times. The coding documentation is far worse than the level design documentation.

I think I’d be awesome to mod alot of the features of Black mesa into Half-life 2 and maybe even a face creation system. It would take alot of time and effort though no doubt.
