Not really. Aliens showed up because of experimenting. It wasn’t like they found aliens and then made a structure to facilitate them.

Actually they did. If you’ve played through Questionable Ethics you would know what I am talking about. They kept an Alien Grunt in a Cryotube along with headcrabs kept on display… So if anything Black Mesa is a lot like Area 51.

The terrain is a bit different. especially with the big mountains, and a big hydro electric dam that needs a river to work. And no the dam is not the hoover dam (yes someone asked me that).
