Black Mesa 2009 Update

There were a couple entertaining videos that were brought about from this[color=’#212121’]“delay.[COLOR=’#212121’]”

[COLOR=’#212121’]lrn2hiddentxt

Yeah, they are really funny ^_^.[COLOR=’#212121’]You make it really obvious when you’r using hidden text, ya know that?

My mind just came.

Although this news disappoints me, why isn’t this posted in news, or they could have at least put it in the twitter update with a link.

The Hitler finds out about the black mesa delay is priceless <3

why did you preface that sentence with Although.

So dillxn, why keep the counter going in your sig.

inb4 ‘Just think about it

You mean after… like 30 times.

OH, and btw, his counter is wrong.

Maybe he knows something we don’t. :stuck_out_tongue:

to be fair it could be counting down to something completely different.

It was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the news!

Yeah, but still it’s almost finished so We should be able to wait. I’d prefer a finished, awesome mod than a rushed mod sloppy at points.

if i keep flooding the forums with “FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU” posts…will you release BM earlier?

No, I’ll just ban you.

^ This.

Well, he will anyway.

I don’t know how the many other foreign members of this community see this project, but in Brazil and the rest of Latin America, normally people don’t dedicate time to complaint about free stuff. As it has allready been said, the dev’s don’t owe anyone anything, BM is a non profitable endeavour without any contractual bond betwen fans and moders. That said, please, take the time you need to finish it. Even if (and I doubt it) this mod doesn’t turn into one of the best gaming experiences ever, I would personally be thankfull for the oportunity of playing it.

It does sound stupid and absurd when community members get to the point of comparing their dogs to the devs. That “J dude” guy some posts back really summons the ignorance and infantile behavior of many members.

(I’m sorry for this repetition, many people allready said pretty much what I said. I just had to get it off my system)

Due to some spelling errors, I couldn’t understand your post.
Even after trying to correct it myself.

Hi, just delurking to voice my support for J-Dude and explain a few things.

Of course, in the most obvious, legal sense, the developers of BMS owe us nothing. That is true. That is also a statement so obvious it borders on irrelevant. Of course, whenever somebody says “They owe us a demo” or “They owe us at least a news post”, they are in no way talking about a legal obligation. They are talking about faith and credibility.

Let’s ask a harsh question here: What have the developers done for us, to date, that we can verify? In total, provided a site, some bitching pictures, an admittedly utterly kick-ass trailer, and a lot of promise. In return, many regulars have placed an investment that is no less real for not being physical: an investment of faith. They have spread the word, they have given feedback, all based on nothing but faith.

It is this faith that the developers, according to the critics, risk losing by missing deadlines. It is this faith that the use of the word “owe” is based on - of course, the developers are under no obligation to do anything - they could pack up and go home whenever they want, and throw that faith away. But, and that’s what I’m reading in the critics’ posts, if they are interested in keeping that faith, some amount of courtesy such as more insight into the mod’s progress, more frequent frontpage updates (the latest news are still the trailer, for christ’s sake!), and most importantly, not missing deadlines, would go a long way.

And yes, Valve miss deadlines too. You know what? Valve can afford to miss deadlines. Valve have proven, time and time again, that when they release a game it’ll be good - this is why they have the faith of the fanbase, deadlines be damned. And, I’m sorry to say this, but the BMS team has not done that. They’ve done nothing, to date, to deserve that kind of faith from their fans, and they won’t have done it until there is playable media available for download.

Until then, I’ll look towards the mod with a little less interest, but still a hell of a lot of anticipation. Don’t get me wrong - I still have faith, warranted or not, in the BMS team and I’m sure the mod, whenever it’ll come out, will be great.

Others don’t have that faith, and that’s fine too. It’s what this topic is about. Don’t flame them for their opinion.

I’m slightly thinking this is a dupe account.

But in other ways, I’m not…

I didn’t read it all, too much to read.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
