a little part in the back of my head is saying this is all the devs attempting to screw with us so they can release it midnight of christmas eve and be like “booyah! Christmas is here cuz Black Mesa sez so!”

Disappointed, but not surprised. I’ve been following this mod for a while now (unregistered) and I admire the dev team for sacrificing their time to make such a brilliant game. Black Mesa is on a scale I don’t think has ever been done successfully before. I’m sure I can wait a little longer to experience the awesomeness.

When I read the news I thought that maybe it’s been sent to Valve for the approval but they’re taking their time to go through the game, maybe it’s going to be a steam-only release and valve are waiting for the next bunch of mod releases on steam, rather than release now and compete against games that actually need selling for cash with christmas deals, few people would buy anything from steam for a week if black mesa was released on it

No, in fact I’m pretty sure that the “Release Delayed” thread which was posted last week, by a mysterious troll who created identical screen names to JamesKane and Raminator, was actually an official trial balloon by the dev team to see how we’d take it. I mean, that thread did somehow mysteriously last an entire day before being deleted, and was deleted quietly without any of the customary flaming by mods.
