As a member of these (and previous instances of) forums for coming close to five years now I must say that a delay is utterly shocking. That stated, GL in '10 in releasing the product you want to release.
I was hoping for a Christmas release, but with a mod this huge and ambitious I was skeptical about a 2009 release seeing as some the media on the Black Mesa website looks rushed.

Well, it’s come to this. To be honest, I’m glad it’s being delayed for the sake of a more polished product; just look at HL2. It is written.

Well, aside from the shitload of people that prevented me from even seeing the thread for half and hour after I got here because the server was too busy, I’m not angry. You did your best, and all of the regulars respect you for it. If some youtube rats or CS players get pissy because they know nothing about how hard it is to keep a game on schedule, let alone a mod that tops industry standards, then they can go jump of a bridge.
You tried your best, and you’re almost done. Delays don’t affect me when I have dialup, and we’re all patient fellows.

Oh man. This is great news for me. I actually just won $200 in bet money. I bet a lot of friends that it wouldn’t come out this year. They’ll pay, by God. They’ll pay.
I mean, not that I don’t have any faith in the Black Mesa team. I just couldn’t see the mod being released this year. You guys are doing great. Keep it up. > 
EDIT: Also I think I remember some forum member putting up a contest thread that had people guess the correct release date for this year. Whoever did would get a free steam game or something? I posted there saying that it wouldn’t come out this year. Does that mean I get the free game? Or was that all just a crock of shit.
Seriously, this fucking sucks. I got a PC for Christmas last year just for this mod. While I’m glad this mod got me into PC gaming (I think it’s great!), but…
Well, I know it’s better to have a well polished game than a rushed one, and I think the developers should take their time (I mean, it’s not like their 3DRealms, where they’re getting PAID for doing nothing), but that doesn’t change the fact that this completely sucks.
Oh well, I’ll get over it.
Carn’t say I’m not a little dissapointed, who isn’t? But this project is massive, so I’m not shocked and not let down by the BM team, they have created (From those screenshots alone) a beatifual mod and for the amount of time they’ve put in to the project to release something for free?? No one can really complain about waiting. I carn’t wait to see the end product, roll on a 2010 release date, I’m sure its going to be worth it, and keep up the great work
Bah! I’m tired of people saying they’d rather have a polished game instead of a “rushed” one. It’s been 6 years. BM in it’s current state is by no means “rushed.” Instead of saying that, why not say “I’d rather have a polished game instead of a slightly less polished game.”
Server should be all fixed now, might be a bit slower than usual but nowhere near as bad as earlier today.

Disappointing news, however the fact that you’ve left it this late to tell us only makes me think that this time last week you were pretty sure you could still make it. So it can’t be all that far off right?
For the record, I’d laugh my ass off if you guys release on January 1st 2010.
I agree with you to a point, but keep in mind that this is a FREE mod. No one is getting paid for this, so shut up and be happy the team isn’t following the Joker’s words: “If you’re good at somthing, never do it for free.”
And the BMSTeam is damn good at what they’re doing, so be thankful.
