And it’ll only leave Inbound :meh:
It does make sense if you think of improving performance to play on lower-spec computers…
Yes, I’m sure that’s also a factor but it just seems an odd turn of phrase when they could’ve easily said optimise or something.
You’re probably right, but it would be nice wouldn’t it
It would be awesome :awesome:! You are right - everything the devs say is very cryptic and nothing they say can or should be taken at face value…!
Could someone from the team maybe confirm or deny to me if the mod has actually been delayed in order to do some kind of release with valve when episode 3 comes out? that way i know not to expect it any time soon within the next coming months if that is the case.
No, Black Mesa is going to be released independently of Episode Three.
Where do these ideas come from?
about 7.
The context of the post you’re linking to has nothing to do with the delay. Ram’s just talking about optimizing performance in general. He says expect it to need similar or better hardware than Ep 2. So “make more easily available” indeed does not make any sense in the context of performance enhancements.
I never said it was specifically to do with the delay - but seen as comments like this where made after the delay, I’m suggesting that performance may be an issue which could be attributed to the delay, and in that context cman2k’s words could be applied - “and expecting the performance to be” is not the same as “it performs this way now” - it’s all speculation like the comment I was replying to and in fact anything else on these forums!
My estimation is sometime in June or later.
The speculation in the post you were replying to makes more sense than the speculation in your post. That’s all I’m saying
I REALLY hope you’re wrong. I’m kinda hoping for a march/april release. Surely they didn’t miss the 2009 deadline by that much.
The Orange box for one.
Do you think that valve or the black mesa team havent thought that Black Mesa might be a good addition to valves new compilation? Episode 3, portal 2 and Black Mesa.
Also Opposing force wasn’t created by Valve, Counter Strike wasn’t originally created by valve and portal wasn’t valves original idea to begin with.
I see what your saying, and the dev’s do choose their words carefully so there is a good chance Grievous is on to something.

I also hope your wrong Dillxn! But with some of the things the devs keep talking about it does make you wonder just how much is left to do :[

RE: bionicman, I hope your wrong, considering we have not even had a single screenshot from Episode 3, I can’t see it coming anytime soon…
He is wrong. I will eat a book if Black Mesa is first released packaged with Episode 3.
Owned.
Portal was Valve’s idea, the concept of using portals in a puzzle game was not. Have you played Narbacular Drop?
Also, hiring a mod’s dev team and developing the mod in-house as an official game != using a mod made by an outside dev team in your game compilation.
Again, this:
I don’t understand how it is such a crazy idea.
Black Mesa IS A MOD!
I know counter-strike and team fortress were mods too, but they stayed mods for a while before they were released by Valve. IF Valve, by whatever means, releases Black Mesa as anything, purchased or otherwise, it will most likely be available as a free mod first, and therefore, will be released first. Thank you, that is all. [Receeds back into cave]
