Black Mesa 2009 Update

Dear BMS Team,
I would just like to state that I am not here to slander you for not making your release date. I would like to point out that you have done a wonderful thing here. You have not just came together to make an amazing mod, you have made a community come together with hope for the future. I think that the mod is like a baby, in the sense that you can estimate when its born, but cant be sure until its ready.

PS: Thanks for not aborting the mod. Even though it would be easier for you.

I’d rather have a mod that has been well-made and optimized than a poor, hurried piece of shit mod.

STFU and live with it, please. It can’t be too long, now.

EDIT: Also, in response to Mega’s post (^ there), abandoning the mod wouldn’t be easier for them, lol. There are a lot of psychos in this community ready to kill them if they don’t complete it. cough, cough

I meant near the beginning when there was barely any people who knew about it, and no one would care if it was stopped.

I thought they got rid of -both with OB

Ahhh, I just read te VDC page, -both still works, but when using the normal compile window it uses the seperate ones rather than -both if you check hdr box.

i don’t agree with him, but this is one shitty rebuttal. I don’t have to be a film director to be a critic.

VBCT?

Like me. :retard:

I love how you guys just over exaggerate and twist everything. It definitely feels like a friendly community here. Bravo.

Yeah, its kinda friendly, you just have to hunt through the content of the post to find the friendly welcome

hmm… and I’m happy cockroach and I feel great here  …I don’t care about release date. I’m just happy that DEV comunity doing what they’re doing. And Their work is so exciting…

I can’t even imagine to say something negative here. I am a guest here and I respect everything around Black Mesa, this forum included. If DEV’s will swear that release date is sheduled to feb/2010 and then they delay it to 2011, I will wipe my tear, claw my nutsack and will continue ti live.

Try sometime look at things from another perspective  Try to imagine sooo many “stupid” posts here, mainly about release date. On the other side there is a lot of people trying do their best (in their spare time) so we can play it a s soon as possible and then you came with argue starting and criticism… How reactions you expected?
PS: Sorry for my english again. I just finished at work and when I’m tired it’s even worse

Well… I’d rather have the rushed and incomplete mod than have no mod at all.

Release the beta and have the community test it so that you can refine it further. Keeping the game to yourself isn’t gonna help when you can make the community help you by helping you point out and find bugs as they play the game so you can fix it. They may even suggest stuff that will be useful in refining BM into a perfect, professional game.

Anyway, will BM be using steam for the game’s distribution? I know Insurgency Mod used steam… I’m sure Valve is just as excited as we are to see this mod released and they would readily host the game’s files through Steam for free.

What’s so amusing is that you really truly believe you’re the first person to suggest that Valve would be interested. Also, you get a  for not knowing how to use the search function, and another for not realizing that they wouldn’t know if it will be released on Steam as it’s not up to them; it’s up to Valve.

Dream on… No beta. At all.
But a completely finished and polished mod at its release.

Yet again…
This is NOT UP TO THE BM TEAM TO DECIDED. VALVE HAS TO EXTEND AND OFFER TO THE MOD TEAM IF THEY WANT TO RELEASE VIA STEAM.
Valve know about the mod, and as far as we know it will not be on steam for the initial release, but it is likely to be released through Steam at some stage.

Maybe when people register, that page that usually shows the forums rules etc should show an FAQ instead

That must have been hard to run them without a computer

As the player, you can criticize the content as much as you want, but not the development. You don’t know why the mod was delayed, maybe 10 of the devs caught the swine flu and lie in hospital? Wouldn’t that justify a delay?

Black Mesa, I understand that you can not manage this, but you can say at least an approximate release date of Black Mesa?

How about no?

No it wouldn’t… If anything, they’ll have more time to work on it, and thus get it done faster :open_mouth:

Also, everybody’s saying “I’d rather have a delayed mod that’s good, than a rushed mod that’s shitty” (and I agree), but wouldn’t it be hilarious if the mod was unbelievably shitty, despite the delay? :open_mouth:

ducks for incoming napalm

I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
