Black Mesa 2009 Update

It still makes me sad that people are coming by with sand in their vagina because a mod was delayed. These people need to get laid or something.

Ahah, Yeah.

Mmmmmmmm,
indeed.:freeman:

Ahahahahahahahahahhh!

I was like :expressionless: then I was like  then I got to the part about “And also i will never download etc etc” and was like    and then when he said “fuck all members here and you lost yourself a fan” I was like :lol: and then like :awesome: by the end…im crying im laughing so hard.

How did he fail so hard? I didn’t think anyone could sound like this guy.

you’ve obviously never seen 1guy1mug…

he sits down and drinks some coffee…

I’ve seen it now.

My life will never be the same. :fffuuu:

A) There is never a need for bad language (except for when you hurt yourself)
B) YOU ARE A CLOSE MINDED FOOL WHO IS PROBABLY AN ONLY CHILD WHO HAS BEEN SPOILT ROTTEN AND EXPECTS EVERYTHING WHEN HE WANTS IT
C)They never promised anything
D) Learn to punctuate fool.
E) Also, the graphics would not be outdated, the mod is being done so that the Source engine is fully utilized. The graphics would only be outdated when another version of the engine is released.

Just to fix your post:

I would just like to add that TF2 took 7 years to make purely because VALVe were never happy with what they had created. This is most likely the same kind of thing that the Developers are experiencing. ( I am oay with you swearing because you aren’t a total douschefag

As much as it pains me to say, in some twisted masochistic way, I love waiting for releases like these. I just joined this forum to point something out, and reiterate on “valve time”.

Half life 1 was released in 1998 by Sierra studios after undertaking what was claimed originally to be “too ambitious’” of a project. It was built on the QUAKE engine that was slightly modified under a new name GOLDsrc, and won 50 Game of the Year awards, and had critics on their knees. Let me remind you, that Metal Gear Solid, unreal, starcraft, and POKEMON BLUE + RED made their debut in 1998 as well. Obviously Valve, under Sierra, had alot of competition. This “too ambitious” project evolved into one of the most legendary titles known to us gamers. With this spawned counterstrike, and team fortress. Mods that were thought to be great, but never figured to go further in the future. We had to wait FOUR (PLUS) YEARS for the next title to come out, after some source code was leaked all over the web around year three which set them back.

Half Life 2 was released in November of 2004 under the new ridiculously modified Havok engine. This gained extreme praise for its physics engine and allows me and you to enjoy modifications like Gmod still today. It had competition like UT2k4, and still stood out. Within this half decade came amazing new ideas and evolution from the original title. The animation, sound, narration, physics, gameplay mechanics, map design and PLOT made this the best sequel known to FPS of the age. With this came the development of Counterstrike:Source, and later Team Fortress 2. Do you think if valve made Hl2 in two years, any of this would have happened? I don’t think so. They gained enough revenue in the sale of this l game to continue spewing out revised source engines that still floor me today. The adoption of Depth of Field, Motion Blur, HDR, really make the experience more “cinematic,” especially looking at what fakefactory did with their project. The long, drawn out development of this FPS made it what it is today.

Without the long wait, we sure as hell wouldn’t be playing L4D2 right now, and I wouldn’t have a such a strong precedent to judge new games. I would have to go all the way back to dues ex for a perspective on new storyline and plot. Hl2 broke new ground, and the episodes keep it fresh. As long as they took to develop, they were still steps in the right direction.

So what in God’s name does this have to do with the
Black Mesa Mod? Valve time, as much as we all hate it, proves to age the wine perfectly. We can only Hope the Black Mesa team has the same formula under their belt. Good things take time, and let’s hope all this extra time was for the better. I have a really good feeling that it is for the better. If it proves to be the mod we’ve been waiting for, I’m willing to give it all the time in the word.

Professional games have dozens of workers working full time (40 - 80 hours a week) getting paid to make the game.

Mod games do NOT have dozens of workers, but instead a smaller team working LESS THAN part time (less than 15 hours a week) while NOT getting paid to make the game.

If you can’t figure out why this highly anticipated game is taking 6 years, then you need to get a grip.

Exactly. You know how easy it is to lose members of your mod team aswell? It’s not like they have a paycheck waiting for them, they are all fueled by the passion behind it. If that passion last 6+ years, god bless em.

Catz has said it all. Now stop complaining about how this mod hasn’t been released yet.

Fully agree. I am waiting, as are we all, for what looks like an AMAZING remake. Insulting the people making it will not give them incentive to speed up. Better a good game later than anticipated than poos quickly.

Go you good things! Oh, and I would love this game for Christmas, but I understand if you can’t get it out till my birthday in the middle of January… jk

:retard:

I was gonna edit out all those nasty words, but it appears many folks are have some jolly good fun with it. So I am leaving it in.

Meanwhile (Jots down another name to block when download time comes. )

Been a while since I been here, and a whopping 61 pages later, I can say that I don’t mind either about the delay. Seeing that 2009 in that trailer way back when at the end of last year did get me pumped, but I am not horribly afflicted by this announcement. There are plenty of good games to stem the time before the actual release. To the devs, thanks for telling us. Aside from the occasional idiot or troll, everyone has given their support. We wouldn’t want you guys (and gals) to get disheartened now that you’re so close. I’m sure that things would have gone differently if you had just left everyone in the dark 'til after New Year’s.

In short, stick with it, 'cause we’ll all be here when you hit the final nail.

Also, I find Dillxn ban reason pretty funny. Wonder what he knew…

Dillxn knew nothing. :ninja:

He was merely… an accomplice… of… J-Dude. :FFFUUU:

Nah, only joking.

I’m just afraid that it won’t release at all.
These kind of things are know to be delayed time after time and then being cancelled.
Please release it in Q1 2010 (I guess that’s what “soon” means)

fail

or is it

duke nukem forever
EDIT: I’m scared.

Still think it is going to be released Christmas day, well I wish anyway

t0ast is typical Gen Y highly strung gamer type stuff, chill out lad.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
