Black Mesa 2009 Update

disappointed…but i can wait more for it to get better

The Black Mesa Developers don’t need to hear all this, they are highly trained professionals. We’ve assured Valve that nothing will go wrong. Black Mesa Developers, we have complete confidence in you.

Nice.

Valve is waiting for the BM dev team to finish so that they can hire them to get EP3 going.

naw. Just kidding.

Oh shit. New rumour GO!

To the Steam Foru… Uhh, I mean… DON’T DO THAT!

Perhaps. The Black Mesa devs have done a quality job of making a mod, they probably will be recruited.

The ones that don’t have jobs.

But it could be very likely, yes. I mean, the guy from Minerva was hired by them, and he did an excellent job… but this mod excells the excellent. The devs have assured their future, I’m sure.

“I don’t suppose you’d, reconsider?”

Yeah well. But I doubt EVERY dev will end up there. You know, the ones that don’t live around Seattle and have an established home with a family, etc…

On the other hand, if it was me who was offered a workplace at Valve, I would just leave everything behind.

And, of course, if you DID live in Seattle, you would have other wonderful choices, such as Microsoft, Nintendo of America, Sony, Monolith, and Ivar’s Restaurant.

(I live in Seattle… Our Ivar’s is the proverbial “shiznit”.)

I dont really care if the mod doesnt get released untill 2010. You are the only dev team recreating the original HL (the game to start the series and universe) and doing a damn good job at it. You guys could have made some deal with Valve and made us pay in order to play it(making you guys filthy rich and swimming in pools of money and babes), but decided not to. I salute you out of respect.

I have a life (unlike some people :stuck_out_tongue: )so i wouldnt really mind if you keep on delaying it.

Your loving and dearest fan, Shifty Wifty Difty Lifty.

Would they need their voice actors to really BE in the Seattle area in order to work though? I am desperate for work myself but I would rather not move me and my family to Seattle.

whoops

I was following BMS a long time now…i believe when the mod will eventually come out, no one will care anymore…

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of HL and i’m still waiting for BMS. I’m just saying that prolonging the end date will only lower the expectations…

haha what

When this game comes out I’ll cancel whatever the fuck I’ve got planned and play it till my hands fall off. Or my face. Whichever one comes first.

Long story short: I will care a lot when it comes out.

First: I don’t think so. As the time passes, the mod stay even better and polished, as we can see in the new screenshots. If you check the old images of certain level design and compare with the new ones of the same level, you will notice the huge difference (for example the tram table of “Power Up” level - The recent design is on the wiki, the old you can find in the CatzEyes93’s website, in a zip file).
I bet that even the fans disappointed with the delay will want to try BM eagerly when it is released.

Second: Welcome to the forums!

Actually whilst I too am waiting for BM patiently RedBride (and it isn’t about the polish level Conti) has a very valid point, games, especially in their development go through cycles of anticipation. Obviously the lead to their release is when people get most amped for the product. Now that it hasn’t been released, my anticipation, my absolute need to play the game, has mostly withered up… there are other games and a lot of other interesting mod projects going on and to simply wait for one awesome mod to come out would surely drive me crazy.

As I said, I can’t wait to play the game and I am waiting patiently (as people should for a free game)… but am I as drawn to the project as I was a year ago; definitely not. Its nothing against the mod, definately nothing against the developers… its just how it is.

These statements are contradictory:3

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
