Well, at least we know they are close to release.

The crazy time pressure put on the members of the team to finish the mod probably sped up production of assets considerably.

If they didn’t put that little ‘2009’ in the trailer last year, we would probably have seen the mod delayed well into 2010.

Release Speculation:

[COLOR=‘Black’]At this point, if they still intend to do a single player release followed by a multiplayer release, I expect to see the mod round about Feb 1.

However, if they intend to push on and make it so that every aspect of the game is included in the initial release; Single Player, Multiplayer and Coop, I’d expect it to be closer to June.

In any case, I will try my hardest to put it out of my mind. Its basically impossible though, since I have the site on my Fast Dial (a more advanced form of bookmark).

The upcoming release of the newest version of Dwarf Fortress should help. :smiley:

I’m sure that they are still working hard on the mod. If I had more experience, I’d guess they are in (or near) the shipping stage, hence the lack of cool videos. I just say let them take their time. Nothing we say can change the release date, or improve the quality of the mod by rushing them.

Good job so far guys! Can’t wait to see the finished product! :smiley:

I remember Gabe Newell saying something like, “Something can be delayed for a period of time, but if something sucks it always will.”

Black Mesa should be a very enjoyable modification, better late than mediocre. :smiley:

It is disappointing, yet it is not a huge concern for me.

Do you have an intended release date or goal for the near future?

It’s great to see the highly positive and mature comments in this thread!

BTW I don’t really care about the mod being pushed back (since I only found out about it recently) but I think this serves as a fantastic warning to all upcoming mods

DON’T PUT DOWN A RELEASE DATE

Don’t worry about a media release though guys, I think most people would prefer work to be done on the mod rather than media. Good luck team! :smiley:

Im quite sure that we get some media update till the end of this year! I mean i understand that they havent released anything new this whole year (im not talking about the videos on Youtube) cause they thought they will release the mod till the end of 2009…now it wont be released and i think it would be pretty weird to not release anything. If they really wont release any new media till the first months of 2010, i actually think its possible that they are really close to release the mod…and i hope they are :slight_smile:

This was totally expected, but it didn’t cause me to get in my car and crash into something. xD

The more time put into the mod, the better the results. I’d rather play a mod that’s good to go than play a mod that’s followed by Patch V1.0, Patch V1.5 and Patch V2.0h-Smack!

I think the backdate is lame. I have to be honest and speak my mind, you may look as if you’ve done a swell job with your videos so far but after 6 years the promise of a 2009 release has been killed.

This has had to have upset some loyal members of this board? I myself look at the video and think “wow that sure looks awesome” but I find myself asking this question: Will it ever actually happen? Is it a load of bullsh*t could it be 1 mass lie?

The answer is yes of course it could be.

Do we want to think deeply about it and maybe believe it? no we don’t.

Pull your fingers out and get it sorted? You’ve promised this to many hundreds of thousands maybe even millions of people and your letting each and every single one down.

I can’t agree with what you’re saying man. One big lie? Why would you go through all that trouble just for the biggest troll of all times? Come on.

Next to that we have nothing to demand. They’re making the game, not us. They’re giving up their free time to make this game, not us. They are the ones who are making this game without any sort of compensation. It’s unfair of us to demand a release.
