Black Mesa 2009 Update

Despite the fan community joining together in defense of BM I don’t think the Grinch’s heart will grow 3 times its size today.

Anyway, disappointed but understanding of the news. Here’s hoping for a media release instead this year.

@J-Dude

If your mother tells you dinner is going to be ready in 15 minutes and it gets to you 5 minutes late, do you spend all night preparing a hate speech to her about how she crushed your expectations?

It’s a free project that these guys are doing in their spare time. They set a goal for themselves and roughly gave us an idea on when to expect it’s release. Just because that goal hasn’t been met doesn’t mean we’re all going to be waiting here another 12 months. Please stop acting as if thats the case, you childish cretin.

Don’t worry, if he doesn’t respond properly to your post it means you proved him wrong.

You know, when you opened the “mother” part, I had the most devious, scathing and insultingly hilarious retort, but I bit it back because it might have gotten me banned and would have personally pissed you the Hell off.

But I will say, I’m being realistic and assuming the team isn’t exactly announcing a push-back this far from intended release if they can patch it all together by January 10th if they needed. As much as I’d love that, I don’t think it’s the case.

Also, as much as I wanted to, I haven’t exactly called YOU names yet, so keep that in mind. The same goes to all those tiresome, self-righteous tossers standing in line to TYPE ANGRY CAPS AT ME when I quite honestly had no intention of continuing other than to see what else popped up here.

cool story bro.

So much for complaining elsewhere…LIES! You are a liar! Pants on fire!

But in all seriousness, your complaints against the mod are exaggerated. If you have been following this mod as long as a good sized number of people here, you would know that delays in anything are often. Hell, Valve did it tons of times and look at them…they have some of the most popular games in the world…did they get some complaints? Sure. But they made up for it in my opinion and released a great product. Half-Life was THE best game that I ever played while growing up and I have followed all of the games since.

A good number of those “self-righteous tossers” have patience and understanding. They see the mod delayed and go "Alright, they just want to make sure the mod is completed and in the #1 A+ condition so that it is as enjoyable as possible. I can wait a little bit longer so that it isn’t rushed. If you want it rushed, go find some other mod…I have played many many mods and they pale in comparison.

Or maybe you could have replied to that analogy properly. But you know, that would make sense.

And since you have claimed you are intelligent, in here, this means that being intelligent here that you are smarter than the average poster, so I will continue to point out every single un-intelligent sentence to see how smart you really are.

Edit: that sacrifice me to ban him for a week is still up for grabs.

If the best you have is another ancient “mother” joke, then I highly doubt it would be devious, scathing, or insultingly hilarious.
If you had no intention of staying, why worry about being banned? You’re an idiot. As for pissing any of us off… I doubt it.

Trying to see if we regret driving you away or something? We obviously don’t care.

Why? The whiny bitchy crap is getting annoying. You’re disappointed, we get it. Now go do something productive, because your complaining isn’t going to pressure the dev team into finishing the mod any faster, mainly because only a fraction actually visit this forum.

Sure, I’m disappointed about the mod getting delayed, but I’m not going to lose sleep over it. I’ve got too many other important things going on in my life. The team set a goal and missed it, end of story.

I think it’s sad, that it won’t be released this year. But, hey, better one ore two years later then never.
I guess the BMS team won’t tell us, how much they have to do, to put a big red “DONE” stamp on it.

Can’t complain much. It looks amazing, keep up the good work. But please get it out relatively soon because i cant wait much longer. I just have to get my half life fix twitch

epic!

on a lighter note, I agree with the guy who’s hoping for more media this month =D
Whats gonna be up next? maybe a sneak peek at the xen dimension?

I think way too much time has been wasted arguing with this guy. He won’t change his mind, so why bother?

I’m not upset at all about the delay. It makes total sense to me to set an ambitious deadline in order to help motivate oneself to complete a project. If they didn’t make their deadline, oh well! They most likely got a ton more work done than they would have otherwise. The key thing is, it was their deadline, not ours. Everyone should be happy that this mod is being made at all! (Which i’m sure most people keeping track are.)

Kudos to all the talented individuals participating in this mod. I’m sure you don’t need a pep talk, so just keep up the good work!

what really how!?!1

Yeah, well, at least it’s coming out at all. We have more time to look forward to it. Just give us something to keep us going. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think I remember somewhere that the devs stated they wouldn’t show any Xen content.
I think it’s supposed to be a surprise.

actually its fits with me perfectly cuz in Jan 2010 am goin to buy a PC that is worth of 1200 $ and the perfect chance to play BM and other games in its maximum quality

yea ,if you delayed the release ,then without thinking ,you guys are doing it for good but sadly some members doesn’t realize that

Quality > quantity

Let’s hope I can get a new PC as well.
I’m not going to play BM on this shitbox.

If I remember correctly, In an hour long audio interview with multiple dev members (which is in an inaccessible dev blog atm) either Carlos or another dev member specifically stated that the original concepts for BMS started well before HL2 was released. I’d dig it up, but as I’ve said, it’s buried in broken links and I can’t access it. Soooooo, technically we’re right, give or take a month or two.

Ah, now HERE’S the smartest thing I’ve heard all day!

Yessir, this guy gets it. That’s the thing, opposition only strengthens my resolve. I was a conservative Republican for most of my life till last year, I can fight a losing battle for YEARS

Yet another cool story, bro.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
