I just noticed that the Black Mesa forums have gotten alot more popular with 8 year old trolls after the 2009 update.

I agree with the developer on this. There really was no way they could release a little bit at a time, While maybe they could have done more media and updates, on the actual gameplay material that just wouldn’t have been possible.
My only complaint was motivation and keeping their release date, at this point in time I think that was the BIGGEST mistake they have made during these 6 years. They would have been better not having a release date at all then to give one in a trailer (5 years in development) only to fail to release.
I do agree with other posters that when they are close to release they are going to need alot of bandwidth, I think Valve should give a helping hand since this project is something valve should have done for their cheerished HL to begin with.
I do think because of the failed Release date the fans should be given some information on why delayed and when the release should occur next year.
Before the final release date they didn’t really need to do this, now I would say its a must, mainly in part for DAMAGE CONTROL. As well as some consideration for the thousands of fans who support their mod and the team.
Just because one feels they dont “owe” something doesnt mean they have the right start crapping on you. Fans have been loyal and supportive to a fault.
I don’t think anyone should be mad. I’m upset as everyone that we’re not getting this for christmas, but god help them they tried.
Besides, this deadline really made the dev team buckle down and besides, they say they’re close and I believe them. If it means a February release, all the power in the world to them.

There is not necessarily just one single reason for the delay. If the devs were gonna tell us all the reasons for this, they could probably write a 50 page report. So lets not ask them to do that, as i am sure that most people would prefer that they focus their main energy on finishing this mod ..
And let’s not forget that they also have lives outside of the development office. Catz and company need their sleep and booze too :]

I pretty much expected this to happen. I hope it doesn’t end up like Spore, where I waited over 9,000 years for it to come out, and it ended up not living up to the hype. I’m VERY confident about black mesa though.
Hehe, wow, amazed at how far a dropped stone’s ripple can travel. I also had to laugh at the accusations that a few of the couple individuals who defended me were duplicate accounts operated by myself. I assure you this is not the case, it’s only me here.
