Big Ass Fish

Found this thing washed up on the shore of of a seasonal stream by my house.
Think it’s a salmon. We’ve seen a lot of smaller ones swimming around, but you can’t catch them, they wont bite on anything. I think it’s a salmon because of the shape of it’s jaws. We buried it and are gonna dig up the skull when it’s decomposed.

If you can’t tell from the picture, that’s a yard stick.

I’ve seen bigger fish in my neighbors fishtank.

When I read the title I thought you fished that thing.

Believe me, I’ve tried. Worms, power bait, salmon egss, lures, lures and salmon eggs, absolutely nothing works. Me and some friends waded in with nets and they all just swam into a cave.

How big is your neighbor’s fish tank? :fffuuu:

Three feet?!
that’s one Big-assed salmon.

pics or it didn’t happen

Try using chum. If that doesn’t work, try canned corn.

Thing I like about living on a great lake is catching a fish that big and thinking oh its a decent size then all the tourists are like HO-LY SHIT!

Try Daredevil lures, i caught two like that on one :jizz:

Wow, but i seen bigger fish.

You need to learn how to tie flies mate :stuck_out_tongue:

Or buy some. But thats what salmon eat, they don’t go for bait. If you’ve never tried fly fishing its good fun, but quite an acquired skill. And you need a fly rod, so probably expensive if you aint got one

It’s a tiny stream, so what if I jut threw a flew out on the end of a regular old pole? Also, I think my parents might veto anymore fishing now that we know the fish are salmon because it’s extremely illegal to fish them even though I’d do catch and release.

You have to make your fly behave like a fly (I won’t say think like a fly)

With a fly rod you cast it out and pull it in in jerking motions to get the attention of the salmon or trout or whatever. Then when it gets close you cast again, keep repeating til you get a bite

The rod and the line has to be very strong, its like hooking a speedboat and I aint caught anything as big as what you’ve got there :stuck_out_tongue:

The other trick is getting the right fly. Two ways of doing this: One is to catch and kill a fish, and use a priest to see what its eaten (basically a metal club for killing with a big scoop you stick down its throat). The other is to see whats flying around and try that

If you’ve got an old rod you can do it, its a bit tricky with a pole cos you have to pull the line in as you go. Make sure its strong enough and get a strong line for it. There’s a size regulation (over here anyway) during spawning season, where you can kill any fish over a certain size. Might be worth looking up
