Battlefield 3 finnaly show up - on Game Informer's March cover

This has me very excited. it seems like DICE will be supporting the PC and PS3 versions very well. Could you imagine if they went all out on the PC version,. Although i thought BC2 was good, the bad company series is still really for consoles. I can’t wait for what DICE has in store for us.

It was aslo very restricted, couln’t even turn off the big ugly crosshair. I hope BF3 will have mod tools

I got BC2 over the weekend, and I’ve been playing the campaign. The first mission was pretty cool, but the rest of it so far is pissing me off.

I need to play the MP, I had fun in the beta, so hopefully it’ll be money well spent.

Oh… it will… just wait.

I’m not putting in my VIP or Onslaught keys until after I play a few rounds. If I end up liking the basic maps and modes, the whole thing will open up.

The downside, I’m a “consolefag” so you guys will probably berate me whenever it comes up. (plus I’ll be nearly useless as a sniper, though I do like the feeling of the sensitivity change they did when you use your scope, IMO it didn’t feel like that with COD)

10$ says battlefield 3 won’t have map editors, commanders, and will feel like a laggy console port and will be only available “at certain game hosting servers”

also why is every game nowadays being called a codkiller

it doesn’t take much to be a codkiller

Honestly, I don’t think so. People are jumping at conclusions only based on their BC2 experience, but let’s check the facts:

  • DICE has a steady history of producing exclusive PC games with all the proper features.
  • The first Bad Company game was the first venture into console territory from DICE and was a console exclusive. They’ve never tried to hide the fact that the Bad Company spin-offs were made specifically for consoles.
  • Bad Company 2 was always clearly a console game with a PC port that was probably only took into account in the later stages of production, yet still, DICE has managed to make a fairly decent port with a fairly decent dedicated server support. No mod tools but there’s technical reasons for that.

Battlefield 3 has been in production for quite some time, probably even before BC2, and is the true sequel for PC exclusive Battlefield 2. I strongly believe DICE is making an excellent PC version, not port, and is taking into account all the needs from PC gamers and BF2 fans alike.

I’m very sure we will not be disappointed.

It’s not BF1942, therefore it can’t be very fun.

:brow:

BF1942 was a very silly game when you played silly and exploited some bugs and glitches.

what’s the point of having the pc gamers, if they can make their own maps, models, weapons and mods, instead of buying our DLCs and map packs!

That didn’t stop BF2 and COD4 from having mod tools on the PC.

start looking from 2007, what was the next major game to include an SDK (excluding source games)

Crysis? lol

okay, but my point is that more and more companies decide to “close” the game off by not allowing (in case of a certain game, banning) modding, hosting at “trusted” hosters, not releasing SDK just for the sake of earning extra $ from those map pack dlcs

I know this might be just for Call of duty series, but right now, the most important thing to developers is to earn money, and the best way to do that is to make a point and click fps with no thinking at all, so, what stops them from doing the same as, let’s say Activision or EA’s BC2?

Have some faith dude.

Faith is the first step on the road to disappointment

I don’t see why you guys get your hopes up like little girls at the ballet. They’re going to make a campaign, and it’s going to be the same. It’s the same company, they’re not going to drastically change much. Just look at Crytek and Valve. And don’t even make me fuckin’ look at Blizzard because they’re damn money hoarders.

Let’s just cut the shit, send Call of Duty to hell, and let EA get on with their life…instead of having to stab and kill Call of Duty to put it out of its misery, it’s no contest and a waste of fucking time.
