According to Shacknews, it is being developed by the same people who created the awesome original. I therefore have quite high hopes for this one.

I must admit I’m excited about Rebellion making another AvP. The second was great but Monolith took as many steps backwards from the original as they did forwards. I still think there’s potential for a truly brilliant game in the series that has all the best features of both the previous ones. That said…

OK, maybe I’m just a blind optimist. 
Plus, gaming aside I have massive respect for them for how well they’ve treated the 2000AD comic since they bought it, even if they haven’t made a decent Judge Dredd game yet. Thanks to them I’ve been reading all the Judge Dredd strips from the beginning.

I don’t get the point of being so pessimistic about it, they have made some great games and some bad games. Wait for more previews and media to come out before you get all doom and gloom. So far it looks very exciting.

PCZone just did a preview of the game with a few shots and an interview with a top Rebellion bod, it was enough to encourage my optimism. I might re-read it and fish for any pertinent info to share, although it was pretty sparse on the details this far out from release.
Thankfully according to Sega’s E3 announcement, AvP3 isn’t going to be third person as formerly thought (actually, I’m thinking it likely the player will be able to select their preference), as the awesome screencap in this link shows.
Here’s hoping that Sega didn’t accidentally mislabel a Colonial Marines screencap.
