Atomic PC - BM Preview

God that’s been said so many times

I have failed at originality. I really must spend more time reading archived threads so I can come up with more unique ideas. My humblest of apologies. :frowning:

As an act of contrition I will henceforth surgically remove my foreskin and send it to Gay Liberation for use as chewing gum.

@ shrink, Valve’s surpises in the next twelve months … I don’t even want to think about htat in Valve time.

Think about that for a second. Would it really be practical to hire the BM team? First of all, they’re located all over the world. Second of all, most if not all of them already have jobs, many of which in the gaming industry. Finally, there are a lot of former developers that would have to be paid somehow for Valve to release BM.

the screenshots look very good. maybe people have unrealistic expectations of bms graphics and will be disappointed at final product anyway.

Yes, they didn’t make up the entire idea, but they follow their own rules. There is no one telling them “hey that part there in Office Complex is too dark compared to the original game, we want you to change it” or “people won’t play the game if you don’t remove the Gonarche because everyone thinks it sucked”. The team doesn’t have to comply to expectations if they don’t want to. It’s 100% their choice and they decide what to do, which is the way everything in life should be in an ideal world.

Re: valve’s three surprises in 12 months: The first one will be in 12 months, the following two will be revealed at 12 month intervals following. The fourth will be "EA bought us so we’ve created the “Bring-a-Bomb-to-Work-Day Initiative, pretty self explanatory, really: Take the company out with a bang before they get their hands on it.”

The graphics of the original Half Life are pretty limited. Everything was pretty basic. So the part in the “office complex” that is too dark is meaningless because Black Mesa is a totally different ball game. Esp. when this is pretty much going to be a homage to the original. Yes, they’re making the choices (and that’s great) but what’s also great and from what we know, is that they’re being faithful to the original. They’re not making any dramatic changes that would affect the kind of game Half Life was. It’s just getting a face lift with some minor choice differences. Which is great. IMO.

No no, don’t get me wrong, I did NOT say that Office Complex is too dark in Black Mesa. What I was trying to say is that no one is telling the team that this or that should be different. In other words, they have no boss, and no company for who they work. They don’t have to worry about complying to expectations either, so they can really concentrate on creating their dream. This is a good thing in my opinion.

I was actually not specifically talking about the game, I was just saying that they’re lucky that they can do this project without having to depend on money, sponsors or a company.

The thread about 3 surprises is on the front page of technology and gaming.

Ah. Okay.

I thought the team was gonna release an official rebuttal to the public, but it appears they are busy. So I did my own.

Orcone… you may have been in hot water for a day, but it all worked out in the end right?

oh wait…

Well said, devs should think about this especially after what Ram said about moral being low.

haha great did the godfather actually say that in the movie?

Ha ha, of course not =) The video itself is great

No, they got Debeerguy to say the speech! Nicely done peeps. :3

lol, CREDITS: one credit

nicely done though :awesome:

the xen media will be on wiki after the mod release

Xen might as well be done, they just didn’t get to see it.

I think the devs should take a break. As much as it hurts me to wait any longer, comments like, " the devs just want the mod done already", make me wonder if the developers are gonna get cheap and careless with thier work. That is totally understandable at this point considering the situation bestowed at your feet. Seriously, take a break for a while, you’ve done so much work and no one on here seems to have the consideration to shut up about this damn leak. Thank you guys for all your hard work and dedication, its more appericated than you know.

P.S. I’d like to find that developer and slappy slap, slap him! > :frowning:

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
