Aspect Ratio: all about it!

Restart Steam and you should see “Black Mesa” in your game list, if it’s not already there.

(first of all, my english may sucks)

Hi, I have changed the resolution and then my screen turned black and said… ‘‘Analog out of range balbalbla’’ ( i dont remember…)

So, i would like to know where can i find the file where a i could reset the original resolution…

Thx!

I’m having this same problem.
According to driver genius pro 10, all my drivers are up to date, and anyway I would highly doubt that VGA drivers are the problem because I’m playing on a laptop.
Thanks

Anybody with a little bit of skillz know the name of the file i should open with my bloc-note ?

I was having the same problem, set your resolution to a widescreen format then restart and change the aspect ratio 16:9 and it should work

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f0/Vector_Video_Standards4.svg here’s an image that shows “widescreen resolutions”.

Yeah, I set my resolution to the highest one, and now widescreen works.

I switched the resolution of Black Mesa to 1600x1200 only to find my video card can’t render that… AND THERE’S NO WAY TO SWITCH IT BACK. Why isn’t there an option to boot in a safe resolution!!!

I’ve tried reinstalling 3 times but never does the resolution revert back to the default setting.

right click the game in steam

Properties->Launch Options

type -w 640 -h 480

remember to remove it from the launch options after you exit or it will set it back to 640x480 next time you play

I had the same problem, and although I couldn’t find the configuration file, it looks like there might be an alternative solution.

If you right click on the game in your Steam game list, select “Properties”, then click “Set Launch Options…”

Then enter something along the following lines as your launch options:

-w 1024 -h 768

This will set the width and height of your display (you should choose something you know works with your monitor). You can also add -window if you want it to start in windowed mode (and there’s a whole list of options here in case it’s useful: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Command_Line_Options )

This should get things up and running. Once you’re in-game you can change the video settings to something appropriate, and remove these launch options.

I hope this helps. I found it worked for me, so I hope you also have success with it.

Out of range means you are asking for a resolution your monitor does not support.
