You know, all that stuff about terrorrists that they show you on TV is pretty stupid. They’re showing you the rednecks of that region, it would be as if over there they’re showing Jerry Springer as a basis for how you guys suck. It’s true.
Yeah, well people are idiots. Not I didn’t say Americans, I said people. As I said, we haven’t banned minarets due to a fear campaign that was based upon racism.
Thats Sverigedemokraterna. They don’t rule my country. Yet.
And look at you talking, guarding the border to mexico with armed soldiers? Very Welcoming.
this. seriously, a large number of them expect that because they are from out of the country all of us are supposed to drop what we are doing and wait upon them hand and foot.
Yes. Go look at the ingredients of almost any American food product. I can almost guarantee it has corn starch or corn syrup or some kind of corn in it.
You’d be guarding it too if you were next to Mexico.
Dude. I live next to mutherfuckin’ Denmark.
Is it true that more than half Americans think the Earth is 6000 years old?
Wouldn’t be surprised if they did.
You guys clearly never lived under a dictatorial system. There was a period here in Brazil (1964-1985) known as Military Dictatorship. It was sustained by indirect vote - people elected Federal Representatives (or Federal Deputies? sorry, used google translator), and those elected the president.
I was born after it, but I know it was terrible. They put some people in a helicopter and threw them in the middle of the ocean. There are witnesses of such cases. Many people disappeared, and what happened to them is unknown up to today. Torture was often. If they found something which looked suspicious inside your bag, you would get arrested and tortured until you said the “truth”. Suspicious was, according to them, anything that could classify you as a communist, but actually anything against the government, obviously.
Anti-government movements were suppressed with violence. Well, that is still the case today… But at that time it was much worse. Television told the population that the movement was communist, so it was ok for the military to shoot at them. People were afraid of communism because of false television propaganda. Once, a bomb was planned to be placed in a square where there would happen one of those movements, but it exploded inside the car which was carrying it and killed two military person - IIRC, a colonel and a captain.
The only good thing left from that period was culture - music, specially. Some very intelligent musicians wrote songs apparently innocent, but whose content was actually criticizing the military government. Only intelligent people who were aware of the situation, which was pretty much only the university students, were able to understand what the song was actually saying. Those musicians were persecuted and had to change their names very often, and their discs wouldn’t go too far before they were collected by the police. They should get a trophy of honor for keep writing them.
The end of the military dictatorship was mainly due to the movements of university students. Anyway, I hope that little story can take away your apparent illusion about dictatorship.
EDIT: Oh! I just remembered. Another good thing Military Dictatorship left was that today Brazil is one of the only countries (or the only one?) which have a system that investigates politic corruption (a very bad system because it only impeaches them from being elected for 4 or 8 years, when they should be locked up in jail, but it is already something).

Sorry, my thoughts are unstoppable
Read a part of it if you can’t read it all. It is interesting, so you might even end up reading it all … or not :[
No.
^ That
I grew up in the “countryside”, and when I was very young, my only knowledge of someone of a different culture, was this one kid who was from Congo. After that, during high school and college, I made quite a few friends from other cultures and nationalities; Turks, Moroccans, Armenian, Rwandese, South-African and one Chinese girl. They’re human beings just like me, I couldn’t care less what animal or god they worship, it’s none of my business and it shouldn’t matter when intellectual beings are interacting with each other, anyway.
although you sometimes bothered me with your Muslim jokes and wouldn’t stop, but there is a light side in you after all
As I said back in that thread, I just spew nonsense when I’m bored, I like to get into discussions to aggravate people, a lot of things I say that are downright insulting or rude aren’t actually my proper believes. And rest assured, I don’t just do that on the internet where I can hide behind an avatar, I say the same things in real life as well. So it’s nothing personal (aw, you can’t feel special now :<)
If I hate people, I hate them for who they are, not for what they believe in.
No, thankfully.
i like sweden but really banning minarets is racist. @gugamilare i didn’t say i’d appriciate it. Like Danson said they get the shit done. it’s all about the Dictator’s personality. My government is like 70-80-90 years old and it already had 2 military coups. And both of them was like hell
Why do Americans believe that they single handily win wars (Painting themselves as some sort of movie like hero) when without foreign help (Most notably the British) they would never get nowere, especially when some wars are not even their own (Eg. World War 2, or more to the point Britain’s stand against the German war machine)?
Do all Americans believe all the English have bad teeth, talk posh, wear top hats, and suits? (I would say drink tea, but that ones actually true, we’ll give you that one)
I’ve actually never heard about this, although I have never seen one either… But it may be because most of us don’t belive in a god.
I would know the answer if we actually did believe that. (Although you have to admit we helped tremendously in WW2).
You mean they don’t? :fffuuu:
