I don’t think it is.

Wohoo!!! Red Ryder FTW! (sorry…)
“Yu’ll shoot yur eye out, kid!”
Well, this thread certainly is turning out allot better than I thought it would be.
Then again, we haven’t really gotten into any of the edgy shit yet.
The Iraq War: For or against?
I got mine from the corpse of a cop.
I also find it amusing that many non-Americans (read: whitey) accuse the US of being this giant military cesspool of violence. The average European/Middle-Eastern/East-Asian country has participated in more killing than the US, which many of their residents leave out of their accusations that Americans are bloodthirsty.
Few European countries have extensively participated in armed conflicts, other than humanitarian aid, in the past 60 years or so.
Most European nations have existed longer than the past 60 years or so.
I feel the Utopian government in a Utopian world would be a dictatorship. I said I would like an incorruptible selfless dictator, but once again that would be for the Utopian world because there is no way to know who is incorruptible let alone if there is anyone incorruptible. It’s a little hard to explain, so I hope you understand what I mean. It’s like someone else said, dictators get shit done. But, unfortunately, a corrupt dictator gets the wrong shit done.
Imagine someone like Hitler. Bright, an amazing speaker, charismatic, able to motivate millions, and extremely determined, except, instead of the massacre of the Jews and world domination, his goals were philanthropy and peace and prosperity and justice. That would be the perfect dictator.
Also, I am strongly against the Iraq war. I actually don’t truly understand why we are there. The way I see it, the main cause of middle eastern terrorism is us. I think they wouldn’t be half as riled up if we hadn’t of invaded their countries.
Utopia: ideally perfect state; especially in its social and political and moral aspects
Yes, well, in a Utopian world everybody would be perfect and it wouldn’t matter what government was used, so I have to agree with John in being completely confused as why a Dictatorship would be best.
Sure, you can argue a Dictatorship would work in a Utopian world with a Utopian leader, but you could also argue that in a Utopian world everyone is a Utopian citizen, thus making Democracy a legit form of government.
(Since a Utopia is defined as being “perfect”, it’s not enough to just say the ruling body is perfect)
You can have sex with Garrus in Mass Effect 2.
Wait, just reread that. You are saying that it could never happen but its still better than what we have now, despite not working? What?
EDIT: Come to think of it, I agree with DinoThrasher. A utopia, which is impossible anyway, would ultimately be an anarchy, as everyone would happily get along with each other for the greater good, all racism, sexism, and classism forgotten. Doesn’t that sound like a nice children’s book?
With every utopia, there comes a dystopia.
I own several guns, though none are for my own defense. I keep them in my parents gun safe while I’m in college.
They are for hunting. I own a 30-06 for Elk hunting and a .12 gauge shotgun for waterfowl, as well as a few other rifles I just use at the gun range.
However, my father does keep certain guns for defense in their home.
I may be liberal, but I still support gun rights.
Do you guys seriously believe that Global Warming is a fairy tale? That seems to be the image spread by the media on US’s view on the matter, especially because of Bush’s excellence in foreign affairs.
Maybe you should stop prefacing each question with “You guys.” We’re not all right-wing crazies.
It seems your foreign media representations only focus on the conservative/ignorant population, which arguably doesn’t represent the nation as a whole.
As far as I’ve seen, only old men and rednecks don’t believe in it.
In Amurricuh(!) do you guys actually have some schools with existent security personnel?
In the larger cities, I believe so, yes.
It’s very rare, I believe. I don’t know the likeliness of it being in bigger cities.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
