I wouldn’t say I ascribe to a fully Nihilistic point of view, what they call existential nihilism is what is described in my OP. I’m more of a moral nihilist which means that I believe that there is no such thing as right and wrong, and that moral truths are in fact socially constructed through society.
In some respects, yes. Whilst this may be true, it’s not an absolute truth. There is never a 100% right and a 100% wrong. The idea of something being better for the whole is often a pre-defined idea that may in fact offer alternate agendas, for example, countries that use propaganda to gather troops to be patriotic; to die for their country to help save it’s values, can also be read as ‘we need to use you as a meat-shield, do you mind lending us your body?’ Whilst this is seen as noble by many, to some, it is de-valued for what may in fact be it’s true purpose.
Yes, though not in a faith based way. I believe in it’s principles as there is always conflict of ideas, and without a sense of unity, which is impossible to achieve, there will always be things that happen and don’t really have a meaning.
Shouldn’t nihilism negate itself? I mean, if a nihilist doesn’t put any abstract value on anything, why should he put value on being a nihilist in the first place? A true nihilist wouldn’t even think about being a nihilist. He would just live his life the way he sees fit and that’s it.
I conform to the expressivism branch of nihilism, in which I don’t subscribe to the absolute nihilsm based school of thought, where everything has no meaning, but as mentioned, am a moral nihilist, meaning I do not believe in right and wrong. By this, I also believe that when someone expresses that something is right or wrong, it is an emotional response, not a feelings based upon absolute truths.
In answer to your question, I’m merely expressing my views on life and offer anyone here to ask questions or challenge any views that they may disagree with. Simply put, I’m living my life the way I see fit.
