Regarding Paul Bottomley, we know it is the name of a friend of Stormseeker, but according to Wikipedia there are two people who are somewhat famous that have the same name and one is a football player, but the notable one is a scientist.
“In 1980, Paul joined the GE Research Center in Schenectady NY. They ordered the biggest magnet available – a 1.5T system – and built the first high-field whole-body MRI/MRS scanner, overcoming problems of coil design, RF penetration and signal-to-noise.”
@Deathmonkey7 PM’d developer Raminator back in July of 2010 asking if that site, and consequently the video you saw, had anything to do with BM and he responded with “It’s pretty obvious it has nothing to do with the mod. But in case you need someone to spoon-feed you the answer, here it is: it has nothing to do with the mod.”
You can find the entire discussion about the discovery and discussions about it here but I wouldn’t waste my time on it.
Even if those sites were made by the same person, that video was released in 2009, which is way before the mod was even released, and thus way before anyone could even discover the pizza arg. It’s obvious that it was meant for a different, earlier arg based off of half-life, and it has been stated before that IT HAS NO RELATION TO THE PIZZA ARG.
I can also make BP OIL out of it. Does that mean I have to investigate the BP Oil Spill to solve anything in this ARG?
The Black Mesa Incident and the BP Oil Spill were both disasters. Makes sense that they would somehow be related, right?
Let’s not get off topic, here. To be frank, drgibbles has done nothing more than we have all been doing for years now. You can look at it as derailment, or you can look at it as an opportunity to tap into another resource that thinks outside the box. It may be hard to follow–I admit that, too–but it doesn’t require immediate suppression. If that was the case, we’d all be banned by now.
Let’s continue to work together on this, focus on the clues, and perhaps something new will come to light soon. We have no way of knowing what sort of timeline Storm is working with, and it’s very possible that he is wrapping some things up. We should consider just how much work went into this first phase (or couple of phases) of the ARG–he’s not going to pull something similar out of his ass, especially with all he has going on. It’s very possible–likely, in fact–that there is a whole other aspect to the ARG that we will uncover soon.
We simply need to keep trying and wait for it to surface.
I had an idea some time ago that the overhead military VOX that is can be heard in several places in game might reveal something that could help us. If you take a look at the audio files for it you will find that each word is recorded individually and i think this was also done the same way in the original Half Life. A lot of these files where not used within the main game but part of that might be because they can be used as a resource for mappers to use in their own maps for the workshop in the steam release but perhaps this can also be used for Easter eggs within the main game and perhaps even for this ARG. Their has so far been an easter egg using the overhead vox in Unforeseen Consequences but it is unrelated to the arg. I have looked in hammer to see how this was set up in that map, but could not figure it out.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
