I’ve watched a bit, but this video was uploaded on March 2012, unless the ARG was planned in detail long time ago this is probably just a coincidence.
Pretty sure Storm’s site wasn’t accessed until April 2012^
I don’t follow, what do you mean?
The thread didn’t find out about grilled pizza until April when Gunsrequiem got onto the site.
Time out folks. I would be extremely flattered to discover I was a part of this mystery. However I assure you, that while my video of how to make grilled pizza offers an awesome dinner feast, it is not a part of the Pizza Code ARG.
Sorry to disappoint you. Carry on.
Does anyone else believe that are could stand for Army Reserve Element? I think its more than a coincidence considering their mission involves information/cyberspace.
Another thought regarding coincidence is “The Shining” (1980) and its documentary “Room 237” (2012) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2085910/plotsummary?ref_=tt_stry_pl You can watch “Room 237” on Netflix or find similar ideas on Youtube. I believe the developers have acted in a similar manner remaking the game as Kubrick did when he adapted Stephen King’s original novel. This is in regards to “2001: A Space Odyssey” (1968 ) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062622/ as well as the Apollo moon landings. Obviously, both artificial intelligence & and rockets (niobium) are related to what has been hidden & exposed in Black Mesa. Aperture Science technology is also very focused on moon rocks which makes me wonder if any other connections between the games will be revealed soon.
Edit: Ok, Niobium is used for optics (Horn’s specialty) as well, (most likely AI related according to “Dr. Montero’s” note on a whiteboard") but still…
So, it occured to me we’ve maybe been overlooking something. Are there any weird sounds in the game? I don’t remember any, but then I haven’t played it recently.
Like, Bioshock Infinite had some really weird, grinding, rumbling ambient noises that turned out to be music tracks extremely slowed down. The first Portal 2 ARG had SSTV radio transmissions. Images hidden in sounds that are revealed by spectroscopic analysis are a classic staple of both ARGs and music albums.
Could there be anything along these lines in Black Mesa?
Ahhh shucks!, Well thank you I enjoyed your video. My friend showed me how to make a pizza on the grill this past summer. Maybe I was too excited to see you doing the same, making the best you can.
It’s funny you said that, yesterday I was replaying some chapters and got startled by some ambience noises and started looking around for them.
If you get really close to a cabinet with a Dalsys “blue computer”, on the wall inside the big office room where you find the guard at the start of QE, some clicking noises can be heard. The sound seems to come out of the cabinet since you can only hear when you are really close to it.
Inside the closed “oven” with the rare medium well done panel, there’s some white noise. There’s a couple places that I have forgottem. They’re probably just creepy ambience noises, put there to create tension on the player, but you cannot go inside the closed oven without noclip and the one in the office only can be heard if you’re really close to the source, so maybe they are important.
I felt something strange there as well. Only I went to town with crowbar smashing in all the glass and circuit board trays lol. I figured it would activate something or be a hidden room. I tried taking those eyeballs in QE as well and using them on the retinal scanners for the X rooms.
So, the Dalsystems page is down, having been replaced by a generic website template…
Found https://iranenvex.tums.ac.ir/ displays the exact same page as https://bmrf.us/
.ir is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Iran. It is managed by the Institute for Studies in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics.
Just someone mirroring the site?
I went to to dalsystems.com/Home.aspx, and it redirected me to a sharepoint subdomain. It might just be a Microsoft server software update, but it’s change.
Stormseeker (at least the ip “matches”) added this to the DALsystems wiki page
“Website https://www.dalsystems.com now (Feb25 2014) redirects to login screen at Microsoft Office365”
Is the ARG a microsoft commercial? I mean, Benaloh works there, he even hosted one of the microsoft puzzle hunts. Now office365, what’s next?.. The solution to the code is William Henry rules?
Since it was added to the wiki this should be relevant in some way.
I’m afraid you are mistaken. The IP address of the one who edited the wiki page does not match the IP address(es) used by stormseeker (different ISP and location).
I don’t know exactly when the changes to the dalsystems.com domain occurred, but on Feb 25, https://www.dalsystems.com/ was redirecting to https://dalsystems.sharepoint.com/, which in turn redirected to the Office 365 login page. However, a day or two later, the destination URL changed to https://dalsystems-public.sharepoint.com/ which is currently showing a template Microsoft SharePoint Online Public Website (part of the Office 365 suite). https://dalsystems.com/ (without the www) is still redirecting to https://dalsystems.sharepoint.com/.
Actually, iranenvex.tums.ac.ir is not mirroring the content of bmrf.us, but pointing to the same server IP which bmrf.us is hosted on. But it is weird nonetheless. The tums.ac.ir domain is held by Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
What the piss is going on with these websites?
This was posted under the blog page:
"This is where I’ll be sharing my thoughts on topics that matter to me. Who knows… I might even share pictures, videos and links to other interesting stuff.
If I catch your interest, let me hear from you."
I’m guessing it’s just standard fill-in created by the system: “by System Account at 1:52 AM”
Yes, you’re right, I misremembered the IP. But, how in the seven hells does the Tehran University of Medical Sciences have something to do with the ARG? Dalsystems was ARG related, since it was stated there that all information present on the page was fictional, and there is no company named Dalsystems, just Dalsystems LLC in Texas.
The previous DALsystems.com site was powered by a content management system (CMS) called DNN Platform (formerly DotNetNuke). In the source code I found the exact same boilerplate Terms of Use text:
(you’ll have to scroll down a bit to find it or search for “fictitious”.)
So, unfortunately, that argument is invalid. We still can’t be sure that the DALsystems.com domain/site is at all related to the ARG.
In the “Brian’s Black Mesa Improvement Project” thread (in the Developer Updates section), the new models for urinals say “DAL Systems” on them. I figured you guys would appreciate that.
