[ARG] The Pizza Code Mystery

Uh… jet.ogg probably refers to the fact that those xen jumper pads push up a jet stream of air to propel things upwards.

I think that’s the sound used in the Jet fly by coming out of the sewer pipe. However, there’s some sort of super quiet sound at the beginning of it that plays for about 7/10ths of a second. Can’t make out anything but noise on it myself though. Here it is trimmed and amplified a lot if people want it.

Also tried it on a hex editor, didn’t see anything noteworthy there though.

Nope, that’s jumpad1.wav.

EDIT: I googled “terminal blackmesasource com” and I got a weird page. Ehhhhhhhhhhh… take a look. What’s that for?
EDIT 2: More googling got me to that it was just a countdown for this initial media release. Odd it was hosted on terminal.blackmesasource.com though.

Okay, so here is a spectrograph of jett.ogg. Top one is both channels combined, middle one is channel 1, and the one on the bottom is channel 2. The thing on the very bottom is the wave form. I did this in sonic visualizer.

Hopefully someone can better analyze this than me. I think jett.ogg plays on the surface tension map that storm worked on, the one with the scenic view and the cliffs and Dr.Horns hidden shack, so it could be related and something might be hidden within the file.

About sprectrograms now, when i was investigating the audio file from launch_trailer.mp4 and attempted to reduce the frequency in audacity to investigate that line and highlighted its sprectigram, i got something that looked like writing that went through almost all of the spectrogram. I don’t know if this is just a coincidence or actually something arg related but here is a screenshot.

In the game this is everywhere and i don’t know why. Perhaps someone could explain if they know. Its a poster. This is something i found from day 1 of the steam release.

In office complex i found these some of them may or may not be arg related.
I forgot what map this was in but it was in an office booth right next to a clock. To the right of the clock there is a desk with a picture of
Michael Faraday over it. On the bottom left of the desk there is a nonstandard sorta UK styled plug which is odd. It is the only one like that in the game so far and the rest are slandered North American outlets.

On the same map there is a corkboared witch also shows up several more times throughout the game including Dr.Horns shack.
The hat wasn’t there when i got to it. I brought it with me. I am just trying to get all achievements.

The last thing in office complex that i noted was this: three scientist.

The last thing i noted in game was this in the first map of blast pit, a map that storm worked on.

Are these numbers important or useful?

As for web elements, i would like to know what this is:

I found this in within the source code for www,blackmesasource.com, but can also be found in https://localdesertsingles.com/ and https://www.blackmesagame.com/.

Fairly sure that’s not important. Those posters are all over the place in the mod version too, but with a different vtf (texture) using the same name, I expect it was replaced due to copyright issues with the previous version using a real-world safety/communication ‘propaganda’ poster, whereas this one the devs have full rights to.

I haven’t kept up with the ARG for a few months as I’m not of much help. Can someone tell me if any major progress has been made? I assume you all are still working on the 752 hex code, yes?

Yeah we’re still working on the 752 hex code sadly. Not much has pro from rested besides possibly conering the key having to be encrypted, but then again, I believe that’s a fairly old idea anyways. The story of it hasn’t really been progressing either, unless you call “dead ends” and “possible leads” as something.

Seems that Xen is promising answers though, so in the meantime we’ve been working with what we can(not much).

Damn. Sorry to hear that.

Well we have 3 things to wait for: Half-Life 3, the Xen levels, and another friggin clue for the ARG

I noticed that we don’t have a steam group, so I created one. Steam group
It’s public, I still need to add few thing, and I don’t plan to promote anything or spam with notifications, but if there is a breakthrough, I will announce it.

I’ve been thinking, and, I don’t know that Xen is gonna have the “last missing piece” we’re looking for. It just doesn’t seem right to have an ARG going if all the pieces people need to find aren’t actually available for them to do so. Especially considering the much mentioned by the devs fluid state of development, I don’t see how Storm would be able to be absolutely sure whatever the proverbial “Xen piece” is would actually see the light of day.

For something so well crafted as this ARG is, doesn’t seem fitting to have a big To-Do sticky note sitting in the middle of it. (Then again, might say the same of the state of things for the game itself with regards to Xen.)

Or maybe I just don’t want another reason to be waiting for Xen, iunno.

Well, I think we could’ev solved 752 hex when we discovered it, but it was (still is) very difficult. Everything later that we been getting were clue for solving it, which aren’t necessary , so Xen would probably have another clue (“that scientist waiting in Xen if we need him”).

Some one help me with this. I am a beginner at sonic visualizer so i need help. We might have another clue hidden within the audio files within the steam release.

It appears that jet.ogg is similar to jet_bombrun.wav in the mod release, but jet.ogg is three seconds longer. here are the two spectrograms of jet.ogg firs, then jet_bombrun after that.

Notice the break near the beginning of jet.ogg that jet_bombrun.wav does not have. Now why is this there? If you take the edited version of the beginning of jet.ogg that @Sage J. Fox provided us ( jet_1s.ogg ) and put it into sonic visualizer and look at its sprectrogram you get some very interesting results.

I didn’t mess withe frequencies at all. That’s why i am showing you my settings. Looking at this spectrogram you can see what looks like numbers and possibly letters. Whats even more interesting is there appears to be the Black Mesa logo in the spectrogram that i originally had mistaken for a B. I need more help with this as i am not very experienced with this program. Perhaps someone with more experienced with the program can take the audio file and better make the possible numbers and the possible letters more visible. This could be a key. I will also suggest at looking at all of the steam releases audio files including its music files for stuff like this.

load it up into audacity, amplify the dB and do a bit of equalizing on irregular frequencies

Edit: NVM, gonna have to look more into it

I feel that we have forgotten about possible crucial clues in this thread that we have posted, but not fully analyzed. We need to examine at the locations of the bio dome logos and "ThePizzaIsALie!"graffiti and the pizza boxes within the game. We also need to further analyze the patterns of the pizza boxes and the “PizzaIsALie!” graffiti found in some of the background maps. I also thing we are missing something that is right in front of us.

Hi, I am new to the arg and have just made my account. Since I am new here, Can someone provide me some information on the arg as the wiki is outdated, I would also like to know what programs we have used for the entire arg so far. I would also like to know how many stages of the arg have there been so far.

I think Background 12 is probably the most interesting of all them. It’s the one with the weird pizza layout as a reminder if anybody needs it. Here’s a list of all the Pizza coordinates on the map, as well as a Hammer screenshot of the layout from above:

Pizza Boxes:

  • -3679.83 2652.08 1321
  • -3679.39 2783.87 1312.22
  • -3787.11 2738.79 1312.22
  • -3573.8 2678.37 1312.22
  • -3687.61 2457.53 1312.22
  • -3912.47 2468.5 1312.22
  • -3935.43 2780.21 1312.22
  • -3733.33 2681.61 1312.22
  • -3519.22 2580.52 1312.22
  • -3568.73 2331.33 1312.22

    “Pizza is a LIE!” Decals:
  • -1106.41 1939.51 -1758.62
  • -1751.83 120.922 -1737.52

I’m not good with cryptography stuff, but I assume this may be some form of visual cryptography. A lot of stuff in the top paragraphs seems interesting, as especially naming out being used in a one-time pad(since we’ve been speculating that. Also I wanna call out that the 3rd reference on that Wikipedia page is the following:

I remember there being something about a note having “PAGE 143” written on it with some of the QUAFF boards or something. Maybe it’s related?

If you want to catch up, you got reading to do for sure. The wiki is outdated, yes, but a good place to start. I recommend reading all the links on the wiki’s front page first, and then reading I guess the past 50(?) or so pages maybe. If you’ve been lurking here it should be fairly simple to jump in, but since you’re fresh into this ARG it’ll take a good bit of reading.

There are two other interesting patterns in two separate maps. One is in background 10 (i think). The other is in background 14. This could be similar to code B. Also, someone a wile back when we first discovered these mentioned the one on background 12 looked like one of these. The one on background 10 looks similar to the one in background 12. Just for reference here’s what they look like.

This one i found.

Anyone has ever tried to count the number of box of each section, following the game history to see if this is the password?

I don’t thing that will work. If it where to be solved that way it wouldn’t seem very fitting to this particular arg. However, we will consider it a possibility, but very likely it would be solved that way. What we need to focus on now is the pattern and Black Mesa logo as well as the possible numbers i found in an audio in an earlier post of mine and the games audio in general as well as these pattern in the game.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
