has anyone been regularly checking the morse code on the kxbm page for changes (preferably by looking at the brainfuck source directly, i would think)? the kxbm page is still up, even though itās now an orphan.
i donāt think the filename is relevant as ā1ā is the main game trailer and ā2ā is a relatively old (iirc) joke video of a gentleman headcrab which may have been used during the SFM asset release reveal? in any case they seem to have just innocently named it what it is, the 3rd video theyāve added to the site.
This actually gave me an idea: Maybe if we can combine the binary of one the images we were provided with the data in the Hex Code, we can find something more useful. I tried grilledpizza.png myself, but it had far too many bits to actually work with this method.
@MadDoctor
Thatās what Iāve been thinking. The hexcode could be incomplete, so the block size would be off, and by adding the missing parts, we decrypt it with 256 AES or Rijndael as the PM from Code suggests. Also the grilledpizza message (ā ātfexirklcrkzfejpflnfekyvGZQQRā āā) Has the ASCII characters for start of text, end of transmission block and end of text. I find it a little weird that the character for end of transmission is put before the character for end of text. Another thing is that I noticed the length of the Code A/B/C/D Number (1001085139140914 ) is 16 bytes or 128 bits as a string encoded in UTF-8. Iām almost certain that the code is using AES or Rijndael, and we just have not used the correct key. Any key ideas that havenāt been tried? 128,192,or 256 bits.
On an unrelated note:
Does anyone use the BMS-ARG IRC Channel anymore or is it dead?
The key has to be hinted from something around the time Stormseeker said that someone is already close. Iāve been looking over old posts, and the ones that I belive have significance are the ones about the hexcode that Code replies too, as we are now pretty sure he is Stormseeker.
If all else fails we can attempt Rubber-hose cryptanalysis, which I just learned about, as itās the only way fast and easy to break AES.
; )
I donāt know if its related but I saw someone was wondering why the bmrf website was using a bad channel visual (The distorted colors) as the background. Made me think a little. Then I remembered that the Emergency Broadcast used the same color visual. I believe that maybe there is interference or a cataclysmic event to the signal or server and that there is meaning to the reason the bmrf.us is how it is.
If this isnāt related feel free to discard it. Just figured iād put in my two cents.
Iāve already though of that. DeathTBO looked for any significance, and I looked few times, but nothing. Iām starting to think that no one was close (to the solution/key), because we would probably solve it by now.
EDIT: Although, looks like few people were close on page 72.
Firstly portal storm can damage signal stations/relays making signal very bad. Nuclear explosion (which follows Black Mesa events) provides very significant EMP that can interfere with TV-frequency signal too. We seen Emergency Broadcast System message in good quality, but it was specially made for emergency situations, and this one is just a countdown made by military personel or radiotechnology amateur - in any case on quick hand and without proper equipment - this can explain bad signal too. And after all - old television sets prone to working like this by themselves, so this can be made just for interesting apperance (though browser-defined font not doing good job)
Well, the first post in this thread should get you started quite nicely. In short: thereās references to pizzas throughout the mod, and a series of cryptic codes (A - D) hidden as well.
Deciphered, the four code combined gave a numeric code of 16 numbers: 1001085139140914. One code (D), which was signed by Dr. Horn, mentioned āUSE CODE D 0914 TO COMPLETE THE SEQUENCE ON MY SITEā. Iām not exactly sure how people found it, but eventually they went to https://www.thestormseeker.com/thepizzaisalie/ and used drhorn as user, with the 16 number code as password. For more info, check this out. This is where the HALOS file was found, which we still have not been able to fully crack.
Then there were some IRC and forum clues from stormseeker, as well as the TOR wiki page. Not necessarily in that order.
⦠Iām pretty sure thatās about it? Main points of interest at the moment, as far as I can tell: the KXBM.net article page, the still not decrypted HALOS file, and the current countdown on bmrf.us. The exact use of TOR is, as far as I can tell, also not yet explained.
Guys, I was just checking the website again, and now there is a full EAS announcement, extended from the one at the beginning of the year. Has this been there since the start of this countdown? Itās at bmrf.us for those who are yet to hear it.
the kxbm article page has tons of hidden references to the original Half-Life. almost every resource is named in a hex string which decodes to a random scientist speech line from the original game. the radio for sale has a secret button which plays a morse code message. the localdesertsingles link originally linked to a placeholder page rather than just the blackmesasource.com site, and had its own console ascii art of nihilanth (kxbm article has a headcrab and the video on base kxbm.net has g-man). there was one major lead of the morse code implementation seeming to single out certain numbers, but it didnāt go anywhere.
yeah can someone please decode the header/footer? i know it wonāt tell us much of anything but iām curious if theyāve fixed it from being for florida and a standard test.
