Anyway, I’ve gotta start re-planning what I’ll do when the mod comes out… I might wait to see if it’ll still go co-op. If it will, I’ll arrange an immediate play-through via LAN with my closest comrade (who I introduced Half-Life to).
If it won’t include co-op, I’ll avoid downloading it until I have a better connection or a better rig, whichever comes first. Even then, probably just install it and wait a year to take an interest in playing it, griefing about its shortcomings on the forums, how much better it could have been, like with how TF2’s gameplay compares with TFC’s.

If you look way back in time in this thread, you’ll see my exuberance, my preparation to walk my unstable girlfriend of the time through the Black Mesa Research Facility… it was when I was planning to show her the wholeness that is Half-Life, since I was too kind to sit her down and forcibly expose her to a 10-year-old engine she wouldn’t have any nostalgia for.

It woulda been her first real FPS. That’s a high-point for everybody’s life.
I was able to get her to play HLDM for a bit, but with her skills, she wasn’t too wild about getting killed all the time, so she quit. Co-op woulda enabled me to keep that fraidycat in the game. After all, it’s not too hard to just follow Freeman.
But meh, glad that’s done with and out of the picture. It wouldn’t have gone well if I needed to turn FF on and issue order 227.
