I could not pass the wire without instant death due to low health and no shield.
The solution is jump through the smaller burnt hole on the right and lift you legs as you enter it.

It turns out you only need 3 barrels. I didn’t realize earlier because when the platform was lifted after the third barrel I tried to jump the gap many times and I couldn’t make it. Then I noticed there were others barrels so I assumed I needed another 3 barrels to lift the platform higher. What you need to do is jump and then duck in midair.
BTW, this a weak game mechanic at best and this game uses it to the point of abuse. I feel like I’m playing Super Freeman Bross.
Jump then duck is an essential part of most HL-based mods from CS to TFC. It’s an easy mechanic to get used to and one that is important in learning better ways to get to places you normally couldn’t.
Yeah, it’s the 'ol Crouch Jump again. For Black Mesa, it would be good to get into the habit of just always using crouch jump, rather than normal jump.
And when combined with physics props you can solve most puzzles in ways not entirely intended (a good thing for time based puzzle idiots like myself).
Playing the mod on hard difficulty and I’m at the place where you first meet the assassins.
How do you kill these invisibile jumping beans? Any tips & tricks? I can get 1 or 2 of them using my satchels. But damn they are hard.
EDIT: Out of tripmines. Is there any in this level?
Don’t stay out in the open for long, or they will mess you up. Try and funnel them into a closed area. There’s some explosive barrels in some of the corridors, I used those to take at least one of them down. The others I had to chase down and went at them with the shotgun.
There is a long tunnel dead-end in the area. Leg it to the end, turn around and wait for them to come to you. if your aiming is not up to scratch, use satchels/mp5 grenade launcher or shotgun (it has more of a spread).
In my opinion, they should be invisible on easy and normal as well, because people complain about them being easy on the lower difficulty settings, but they are actually a worthy opponents on hard
SMG grenades instagib them
Got them with 3 health left. Had no smg grenade, health, suit or mines. 1 satchel only. Now i must not get bitten by a headcrab until I finds some health in residue processing.
I am no longer wasting my explosives lol
yeah I always save all of my tripmines for the 2 ninja rooms
I got stuck at apprehension. After bulding the bridge with air barrels I passed to the other side and the place suddenly collapsed. Now I’m in water again. There are stairs but I can’t reach them. There is a second level up but I can’t reach that either. There are crack in the wall that I can’t get through but I can see the tram on the other side so I’m in the room next door I think. There is an under water passage but a truck blocks that one. I hope you understood where I am. How do I get out of here? I tried to hoard flooting items to try to reach somewhere but nothing…
I killed them all with the MP5, easy as fuck…
But I’m not playing on hard. I play on normal.
Shoot anything that seems like it’s moving man. Bitches jump weirdly and escape my grenades.
EDIT: God I’m already dying for Xen. Gonarch and Nihilanth are gonna be epic battles.
I think you need to look on the other side of the wall that’s in the middle of the pit, when you pass the dead soldier on the staircase, you come out just above water level, turn right and walk/jump on a catwalk which will collapse under your weight.
The truck doesn’t block the passage, keep swimming.
Yeah, this one got me too. You’re looking in the immediate area and the rooms around for red barrels to place in the cage underneath the broken bridge thingy. Once you have enough (I think there’s three to find), it’ll raise the broken platform enough for you to jump across.
Maybe I am blind but I am not seeing any way around this.
I am in the water area, there is an opening with a “live” wire and it says
“Generator room” on the other side.
There is a hole in the fence crouch jump through there, you need to run.
