You’re doing it wrong! Games are for fun.
Just thought of something: If games where meant to reward skill and strategy, then why do you support a game with no more depth then just running and waving your guns at everyone you see. What is the strategy in that?
Yes, games are for fun. In in the case of anything but casual games, some of the fun comes from doing as well as you possibly can. You are ridiculously over-simplifying things. CoD requires and encourages strategy and skill more than any Half-Life game. (What weapon should I use? Should I go head-on or try to sneak around? Should I stay here and snipe?, for skill, how well can you aim how well can you move across the map how well can you spot movement at a distance etc.)

That’s basic skill you’ll find in any shooter, not just in MW2. Not to mention that it’s the basic skill of any shooter. The things you mentioned are nothing but core skills in modern shooters. Not to mention the things you mentioned aren’t necessarily better or good for your team. In games like Bad Company you actually have to communicate really well in order to win, not just do whatever the hell you wanna do, it’s what best for the team.
Agreed…it is strategy, but it’s your individual strategy and skill and not that of your team, which makes the game very thick and boring IMO. People are rewarded whether they work together as a team, or not. It’s a good mindless deathmatch game in FFA mode, but when you start getting into the team-based and objective modes, it can’t compare to other team-based games.
Not quite the reason I’m not buying Black Ops, though…I’m sure the game can’t be any worse than MW2 (well, maybe I’ll have to eat my words when it comes out, we’ll see), but I don’t want to ever give another cent of mine to Activision. I’d rather give my money to another company who treats their employees fairly, with dignity, and who’s CEO doesn’t want to ‘take all the fun out of making video games’. A piece of software made by people who were having fun is probably enjoyable. A piece of software made by people who hate their jobs, their parent company, and/or the product itself, will probably be mediocre at best.
So… Black Ops is going to take place in Vietnam during the Cold War.

Modern Warfare 1 - Greate game, the multiplayer could get boring but the single player was fun to go back and play.
World at War - I never got it but looking at youtube videos and reviews, I probly never will get this crappy game. (The creator of this is making black Ops…)
Modern Warefare 2 - The single player got boring after a while and the Multiplayer is as repettive as hell. Co-Op saved it from falling into a black hole of suck.
Black Ops - The multiplayer is the same as MW2’s with more wepons and they have only showed sequences that happened durring the same war. Thats not a good sign.
Halo: Reach - ****ing awesome! The new and improved forge mode and fixed firefight will blow away BlackOps and will out last Gears of War 3’s horde mode! Fable III is gonna have some serious competition. Anyway, I wasn’t saying that to trash Halo. It’s just that this is, you know, a thread about a completely different game. :hmph:
Well then why would you get Black Ops? It’s the same gameplay style but MW1 had a better story line.
Yeah, but I take Halo seriously in the face of troll, lol, or severe amounts of newb. I still think that Halo: Reach (unfortunately only available on the X-Box) will compleatly distroy Black Ops.
You also might want to check out that youtube video, with the new fixed/phased/degrees features and because of cotton the games forge will now be much more awesome than Halo 3’s
You’re talking just on the Xbox, right? I still figure sales will just about level out. COD has a good fanbase on the Xbox.
