Kill la Kill has been high-octane pretty much the entire way through. I think it’s safe to judge the series so far by its first episode. Watch the first ep, and if your reaction is “FUCK YEAAAAAAAAAAAA,” then I can pretty much guarantee you’re going to enjoy the rest of the series.
Rewatching Elfen Lied. Partially because a friend of mine had a large public argument with her family because they were being racist.
Started watching Sword Art Online. Review so far based on the first six episodes:
Pros: It’s really interesting, the stories are engaging, and the characters are well written, so it’s easy to develop feelings toward them even if you only see them for a single episode. It may not win any awards for animation or design but so far it’s bright, colorful, and pleasant to look at, and consistently well done. I haven’t noticed any drops in quality. The opening theme is memorable and good enough that the opening isn’t necessarily an automatic skip. The rest of the soundtrack is good too, but it’s more appropriate than noticeable. It sets the tone well but you probably won’t find yourself humming any tunes except the aforementioned theme.
Cons: The story moves at an unusual pace, skipping months between episodes, leaving out the details of life in Aincrad to focus more on certain experiences of the protagonist. That’s not exactly a bad thing, but I wouldn’t mind more detail on how the game works. I also think it could use a bit more action - there’s no doubt that this is first and foremost an anime that focuses on characters and story, but it would just be that much more exciting to watch with some well choreographed and animated fight scenes. Probably just wasn’t in the budget. I’ve also heard the second half is kind of a let down after the great first half, so that’s kind of disappointing to have to look forward to.

^Sorta. I’m watching Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and it’s pretty nice, honestly.
I’ve been watching s.CRY.ed and this is awesome as hell.
I remember that show being good but its been almost decade since I saw it so I remember almost nothing about it but his super arm.
My brother has gotten intoto Attack on Titan, so I watched maybe half of the first season of that show.
The interesting thing about this show is that it seems to take the anime tendency to tell you exactly what a character is thinking all the time, and takes it even further. It seems like every time one character sneezes, another has a complete mental breakdown.
Just finished watching episode 15 of SAO. The first arc ended rather abruptly, but on the whole I liked it a lot. There is a lot of crying though. Even by anime standards. I don’t know how much more I can take. Also, [color=’#151515’]that last episode gave me all sort of unpleasant feels - from major douche chills from that glasses guy that wants to marry Asuna, to totally weirded-out on account of Kirito’s sister’s creepy incestuous forbidden love vibes. Yeah, so they’re not really brother and sister, but cousins still ain’t great! Besides, adopted or not, being raised together should have made some mental blocks against that kinda thing. Just doesn’t seem right, by western standards at the very least. So we’ll see how this second half holds up now.
I think Berserk is starting up again sometime in May. It’s been at least a year since the lat chapter. Now we just need HXH to also continue.
I just finished Natsume Yuujinchou, which is a really comfy anime about a kid who can see spirits. Then I discovered that there are three more seasons of it plus an OVA. It was a good weekend.
I don’t like new things so I just keep rewatching Fullmetal Alchemist.

So, Mikakunin de Shinkoukei is an anime about a girl who’s just turned 16. On her 16th birthday, she’s then told that her grandfather - whose word is law in her family - arranged a marriage with her to a family friend’s son before he passed away - and said son shows up on her family’s doorstep, with his little sister, to live with them as her fiance. Already a setup for a pretty decent romance/drama/slice of life type show, but then, for episodes in, it turns out that the fiance and his family are fucking werewolves. I love anime so goddamn much.
Okay, they’re not actually “werewolves”; they describe themselves as fairies. But they can transform into dogs.
Same difference haha only in anime could that happen and not be abnormal.

Getting a fansub of Evangelion 3.33, since most of my Eva watching friends saw it ages ago and I want to avoid being spoiled.
I think I recall Elfen Lied being mentioned in this thread. Whoever it was who liked that show should watch Gokukoku no Brynhildr / Brynhildr into Darkness. Same author for the manga. It’s pretty good so far but the latest episodes do make me worry about its tone being all sorts of weird.
It was a funny and charming anime. Also, Mashiro wags her ponytail like a dog wags its tail.
